Bond 22

Yeap.. although I' ve seen Shoot Em Up and cannot stop visualising Clive Owen in the Bond Role...

I think it should have been the Ultimate choice..

Bond should look like a killer. Clive Owen doesn't look like he could punch his way out of a wet paper bag.

The ultimate choice, and christ knows why the Broccoli's never cast him, has got to be Adrian Paul.

I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond after Sean Connery ! Maybe even better in some ways.

I loved Casino Royal !

The darker way the story is told is so much more interesting than stupid gadgit jokes and funny sex names.

Bring me more bond movies like this and I will continue to love and anticipate them.

I thought Bond movies were dead after the last 5 or 6 sucking so bad. Come on that one with Peirce on the BMW bike was like a Jackie Chan movie but with out Jackie!

But with Casino Royal I was there ! I mean I was so hooked right from the opening scene !

I want more!

Cant wait for Bond 22 !

You jest surely! :o

I mean, that's who I'd pick to play Fabio in the TV movie biopic.

I jest not. Just look at the fella.

He's half italian, half english, looks like a young Connery, tall, good looking and has a pedigree in action roles. He's a trained fighter and he used to be a fashion model so looks good in a tux. Only problem is that he has as much acting ability as a 2 x 4 but that never stopped Moore.

I can't think of someone who would be more perfect.

My vote was always for Clive Owen, but, apparently, he actually turned down the role. I don't think it's any coincidence that he appeared in the Pink Panther movie as 006, kept saying "I shouldn't be here..." "I'm not here"... etc, and was not (that I could see) credited on the end roll-call.

Craig acted the part fine, he just doesn't look how Fleming described Bond. Rupert Everett would be another actor I'd've said would have looked the part.

So, how many Bond novels have you read then?!

This is the person Ian Fleming wrote in Casino Royale as being closest to Bond's appearance...

Not a bad likeness IMO...

PS. Clive Owen didn't turn it down. He wasn't asked (although Sony Pictures lobbied Babs Broccoli and Michael Wilson hard to consider him).

If you're splitting hairs here's Vesper's description of Bond from the Casino Royale book:

"reminds me rather of Hoagy Carmichael, but there is something cold and ruthless."

and in Moonraker, Gala Brand notes:

"certainly good-looking . . . Rather like Hoagy Carmichael in a way. That black hair falling down over the right eyebrow. Much the same bones. But there was something a bit cruel in the mouth, and the eyes were cold."

Dalton was the closest to the Hoagy Carmichael ideal Fleming envisioned, IMO.

Here's a pic Ian Fleming commissioned to give readers an idea as to what he imagined his Bond to look like:

Looks like a less craggy Dalton to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love DC but he look more Boris Becker than James Bond. He really should have dyed the hair.

OK, so Ian Fleming wrote in Casino Royale and Moonraker that Bond looked something like Hoagy Carmichael. :p

I agree though that Dalton played the part closest to the Fleming characterisation Not so sure about the looks though......

Whilst I thought DC did a great job on CR......he's still got a face like a well skelped a r s e......

What's that got to do with anything?! Being ugly never stopped you getting your oats....

Dunno about that:

Certainly closer to the ideal than Daniel Craig looks wise.

We all know that Jack Bauer would destroy them both. C'mon, Jack killed 90 people once in 24hrs. No contest :D

Nah, Chuck Norris can have 'em all.

Come on guys,

Dalton was the biggest POS Bond ever!

Those movies sucked.

It goes

Connery or Craig

then Moore, even though these movies were cheesy.

Dont know much about the "4 her Mag Sec service" guy but I would put him here.

After that I rather see Jethro Bodean from Bevery Hillbillies as Bond, Dalton and Pierce both blew.

Most of them. My favorites are From Russia with Love, and the Living Daylights.

The Mentalist beat me to the artist's impression of Fleming's mental image for Bond, and, personally, I think that looks somewhat like a young Rupert Everett. Bond is clearly physically described in From Russia with Love, in his KGB portfolio. That description has nothing about blonde hair ;)

I'd read about Clive Owen rejecting the role, on a Bond discussion forum, so considered it a credible source of info.

LOL... you guys are hilarious in debating the merit of DC as Bond......

We all know Jason Bourne would utterly destroy Bond hands down......

As would Michael Samuelle.

He'd either use Nikita as a lure to get Bond into bed, and then just shoot him whilst he was 'on the job', or, as shown in an episode of LFN, he'd likely not even go to that effort, and simply walk into the bar and shoot Bond in the back of the head whilst he ordered his vodka martini. In terms of 'blunt instroments', they don't come much blunter than Michael

You are kidding, aren't you? That drawing looks more like Peter Cushing...

According to you, Daniel Craig looks like Hoagy Carmichael. :D

No, you're quite right. Fleming's picture of Bond looks nothing like Dalton. In fact, I thought it was a picture of Daniel Craig the moment I saw it. Thank you for making see how wrong I was.

Cheesy title, even if it is one that Ian Fleming himself used. It makes me think of the series "Quantum Leap" and sci-fi movies.

Craig said the cryptic title referenced how Bond's heart had been broken at the end of Casino Royale

Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me.

There's a precedent for the title of a Bond film to be changed prior to release to compensate for a dumbass unreceptive audience. Licence To Kill was originally titled Licence Revoked in the teaser posters, but early in production it was established that over 50% of North Americans didn't know what 'revoked' meant, so it was changed...
