Paris for the first time

insane

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am going to Paris on a business trip in the beginning of February. Its only for three days, but since its my first time in Paris, I want to stay somewhere close to everything - if possible :)

My meeting are in Maisons-Laffitte, and as I understand, there is not much going on there. So I was thinking of maybe this hotel:

http://www.regencia.com/index.html

Its located at 41 avenue Marceau, so not far from the Champs Elysees. Is it an ok hotel or part of the city to stay in? Or would any of you recommend somewhere else?

And if this is ok, do any of you recommend any restaurants close by? Preferably with a famous chef, or with a Michelin star or two ;)

Regards

NIce hotel, reasonable rates good choice we have stayed there for a weekend.

Also I can recommend Hotel Galileo, 54 Rue Galilee, 75008 Paris

or the Napoleon Paris, 40, Avenue de Friedland, 75008 Paris which are in the same neighbourhood and same rate/quality, only 1 minute from the C E.

Hope you enjoy your trip

Cheers

It depends how much local color you're looking for.

There are some nice, very upscale boutique-style hotels in much more interesting neighborhoods (Saint-Germain-des-Pres, for instance) where you'll really feel the charm and pulse of the city somewhat more than in the neighborhood in which the hotels indicated above is situated.

Check out TripAdvisor for a starter:

Or Frommer's.

How will you be getting to Maisons Lafitte? This could be determinate in your choice of location.

As for dinner, try to reserve at Le Grand Vefour. It will blow your mind (and your budget):

or even this, one of the world's most perfect hotels - situated in the gardens of the Chateau de Versailles and just a stone's throw from Maisons Lafitte:

You mean his company's budget. :) Safe travels, check out some AD's if you have any time to take in sights.

Wow, read a review, and Le Grand Vefour sounds great. But I want to keep my job, so I should at least half the price for dinner :)

But thanks for all the great tips. I will read up on them.

Not sure how to get to Maisons Lafitte, but probably taxi unless there is a train I can take?

BTW, besides Le Grand Vefour, where can I find the best Fois Gras?

Maisons Lafitte is easily reached by suburban trains. You should allow yourself plenty of time to get out there, however - especially the first day. You might have to take a taxi from the station upon your arrival, depending on where your meeting is.

As for the Foie Gras, is that to go, or for a sit-down meal?
