omegaunit
I can't seem to decide what model I would like to buy as my first Rolex rep. I am looking for the most accurate rep possible out of the box with little or no modifications needed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! FxrAndy
I would recomend lots of reading!
perry563
Buy a fully modded ETA BKmariner. You will have no need for additional mods and you will have a watch that really does look for all intents and purposes like a gen Rolex sub. The movement is great and should last decades. Look no further.
Pugwash
If you're after accurate out of the box, go datejust or explorer I. They're not the most exciting models, but if you want accurate as hell, Rolex isn't the place to start.
perry563
A fully modded BK mariner is a sweet watch that would never be called out unless your unlucky to bump into a rolex nerd. even then on the wrist and fully modded it would be a tough call. freddy333
I agree with Pugwash -- get an Explorer 1 or Air King since neither has a date (the date never looks correct out of the box) or other complications. But before you do anything, I would go to your local AD & try some of the gens on to see how they look & feel. Also, research available dial colors & bracelet variations to be sure you do not end up getting a rep variation that Rolex never actually produced (if accuracy is that important to you). piratedzeus
ETA custom made no YG/RG/WG Datejust... BK mariner BK SSD and the no date models, but no No-Date submariner (this one has bad case)
w.genzo
BK mariner is probably the best Sub out of the box, but submariner is also the most replicated watch in the entire replica industry.. so at first people will think at 99% it's a fake, then they could change their mind.. Go for a plain model, a Milgauss, EXI, Datejust (not the two tone dial). I'd also suggest to avoid too fancy dials, a simple black or white one is better. When you wear a Rolex, the first thought of people is.. "this is a rep", so it need to be really accurate to fool someone.
omegaunit
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I have to agree that the Explorer and Air king are not very exciting. I own a gen Air king and I never wear it. I had been contemplating the GMT Master with pepsi bezel, would it be better to go for a vintage model? Corgi
Get a NOOBMARINER. (alternatively NYMPHOMARINER) You cannot go wrong with the price and it is perhaps THE most accurate Rolex sports model out there right now...
Guest Carl
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I have to agree that the Explorer and Air king are not very exciting. The hand stack will likely be correct and you are not going to get that on a GMT Master II rep. The really old ones had a plexiglas cover and some actually had a Jubilee band and not an Oyster. Once you get it "aged" it can be very convincing. Several dealers have these available. I like mine. Carl
