yt74 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 i'm looking to buy one as well, and they have them at ofrei.com.chinese DG3804B.$26.60 So would this accept ETA hands?
ajoesmith Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 So would this accept ETA hands? simple answer NO the Asian movement shave different hand sizes compared to swiss movements
iflylow78 Posted April 5, 2008 Author Report Posted April 5, 2008 do you know what the hand sizes are? or where i can go to get more info on it - ofrie does not list much info and when i google that movement all i get is this thread and and ofrie.
ajoesmith Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 the hand sizes are on ofrei's site! 1.00/1.50/.17
iflylow78 Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 finally found the "full" listing for the DG3804B on the ofrei site question - does this movement all you to adjust the gmt hand indpendent of the hour hand? Or do the GMT hand simply mirror the hour hand showing in essence if is night time or day time
ajoesmith Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 AFAIK its independently adjustable Can i ask why you want the movement?
iflylow78 Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 building a fantasy watch and had planned to use an ETA 2893 but like the price of the DG3804B much better. If it turns out well then I may opt to source the ETA at later on.
ajoesmith Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Good luck trying to find an ETA 2893-2, they are very rare. Try the DG3804B im sure itll be fine, not the best looking of movements, none of the Asians are but youll prob use a closed case back. Good luck with the project
Toadtorrent Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 As an update to this...the hands as AJS indicated for the 3804b are: 1.00/1.50/2.00/.17 Of note though...is that the hands for a 2813/4813 movement (aka Noobmariner hands): 1.00/1.50/0.17 So...for the GMT...what you need essentially are the hands from an Asian Rolex and the difficult thing is sourcing a 2.00 GMT hand.
