Guest Sql_pl
Today I received a very first piece of my 16520 Daytona puzzle. An amazing black luminova dial. Here are some pics for you: And a comparison of a 16520 with a 116520 dial: Will keep you all updated about the progress in this thread. Thanks Maciek Edited May 5, 2008 by Sql_pl
RWG Technical
Looking good, real good, I can't wait to see the rest. I have assembled a number of these franken daytona's, and it such a shame to hide that amazing El Primero, you need a clear caseback on this one RG
Guest porsche356a
You have a dial for a 116520 as well? Awesome!
LordRasta
Wow. This is going to be a great project, especially the reason for the project. I hug my dog a little harder and walk him a little further everyday and for that I thank you. It's so easy for one to get wrapped up in their lives and issues. He brings me immense joy. freddy333
As long as the case is machined properly & the El Primero works as advertised, it should be smooth sailing from here. I await pics of the finished 16520. Should be a real head-turner.

Guest Sql_pl
Freddy... I believe case should be machined properly.... as it is genuine Movement is brand spanking new so I do not think I will encounter any problems there either... Can't wait to have it finished myself! ubiquitous
The hands are always tricky to fit... Rolex changes the hour, minute and 4th wheels out, as well as all the subsidiary pinions. So... The Rolex hands aren't a direct fit to the standard El Primero bits...
Guest Sql_pl
Yes Randy I know but thanks for the heads-up.

So... The Rolex hands aren't a direct fit to the standard El Primero bits... Ah, I was not aware of this. That will definitely make this project more interesting (& complicated). Is this a straightforward broaching job or does it require retro-fitting additional gen wheels/pinions?
ubiquitous
Well... The preferred method, of course, is to just fit the right parts. However, those parts can be tricky to track down. I myself reduced the tubes down on mine. Perhaps not the best solution to the problem, but one that I'll accept as a good alternative. Just have to be careful (though I know you did this with your 116520 hands). Not too terribly difficult...
manuel
Is there another remedie for the hands? I remember the last daytona of riverwindmds...he putted a beautiful white dial but it got a little ruined because of hands friction. After hearing this comment I know I cant rely on my watchmaster since he may have no clue about this...and he is very bad when it comes to hunt pieces.
