Mickey Padge
As per my earlier thread regarding my Submariner here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=68284&hl= This is my is my Rolex Explorer II.... It has a genuine dial and superlumed hands, but not the correct hand stack, I prefer the more sturdy movement, over a small detail like hand stack order A few quick pictures! I really love the white dial and SS bezel, there is something special about it I think. Comments welcome! Cheers!
Sir-Lancelot
Looks good Mickey. I agree on the hand stack. Not a big enough deal to accept a lesser movement to correct it. Thumbs up.
Mickey Padge
Thanks Sir-Lancelot, the movement is solid, and keeps very good time I don't actually recall the issues with the other movement version, but who would look so close, as to see the hand stack anyway? Or even know to look? At least that was my way of looking at it
alligoat
Very nice Mickey! Looks like the gen dial is the way to go on the Explorer II. I'm kinda of the same opinion on the incorrect handstack- it's not that big a deal.

If you have the chance to get a gen dial, I would strongly recommend you do, even if it means picking up the watch and other parts afterwards! alligoat
Yep, considering the flaws of the rep dials, that's why I've held off on the Explorer II- but I'm like you, I love the white dial and ss bezel.
Mickey Padge
It seems it may be hard to recreate this watch now, with a genuine dial at least... The new Exp II's are larger than the case mine is using, so the gen 27mm dial is too small to fit So you will need to find an old case Exp II, with the wrong hand stack, to stand any chance of success. alligoat
Bummer! Kinda like the gen sub dial only fitting in a TW Best/MBW case.
Mickey Padge
Bummer! Kinda like the gen sub dial only fitting in a TW Best/MBW case. Indeed, there may be quite a few members with older Exp II's in their collection, blissfully unaware of the potential for a project watch right under their nose
dluddy
If anyone has one of these older Explorer II models, please PM me as I am looking for one.

Mickey Padge
Hehe, well there is nothing stopping you PM'ing me with an offer I cannot refuse........ I am always open to trades, and I would not take offence, unless you offer me some sort of canal street rep!
