Yes. Only you won't be using the date feature, of course. You can mod the works to make it two stops when you pull the crown out instead of the three that you get with the 2846, but it's not something I would ever worry about. I have a fine little 5513 with the 2836- who cares if it has three stops when you pull out the crown instead of the 'CORRECT' two- it's a rep by gosh- it's just a great looking watch at a great price!

I've heard somewhere that it can be quite common for the factrories to use movements with dates in non-date Rolex watches.

My Bond'ish Sub, which i believe was originally from Silix'

has the 3 click crown and feels very much as if the date wheel is still there, I have yet to check the movement. But it works fine as it is.

Thank you stormtooper4 and alligoat. I appreciate your responses.

Is there someone who can identify the correct slow beat movement, ETA, that I could use in the event I decide not to use the 2846?

The ETA 2846 is the correct slow beat movement for a vintage Sub or Seadweller. Repaustria posted a short tutorial on how to mod the clutch lever spring to remove the extra notch for the date setting. If you are comfortable disassembling the keyless works, it is an easy mod. If not, any watchmaker willing to perform mods (Ziggy) can do it for you.
