SSD V2 arrived today from Andrew. For a total of $303.00 I got the genuine ETA 2836-2 movement in a great looking watch! Now I need a camera so that I can post better pics than the web cam will allow.

For the record, the etched crown at 6 o'clock is not that noticeable when you are wearing the watch. Also, it appears that they have addressed the earlier issues with the extension link coming undone and the link screws being stripped.

(Edit) I read a couple of tutorials on this site from Pugwash and within 5 min I took this pic. Need to read up on the photography a lot more but I'd like to give a shout out to Pugwash for making this so enjoyable!

A beauty (I think -- hard to tell from the webcam pic). But I trust that your enthusiasm is not mistaken. You might actually be able to get a better pic with your webcam if you move the watch a bit further away from the camera. Most webcams do not do very good at close range (or long range, for that matter).

But, in the meantime, congrads on the new SSD. They are beautiful watches.

I know the feeling. Got my SD from Andrew just a couple of days ago (same $303 total), and I could not be more happy. This watch compares very well to genuine watches that I've paid well ver $300 for. I had no issues with the extension link or link screws either.

The one thing I am curious about is the claim that it's been factory tested for 100m WR. I have a couple of divers, a 200M Seiko and a 100M Sandoz that I reguarly snorkel and swim with. I would love to take this one into the water as well, but I'm a little nervous.

tr4driver:

The first thing I did when I got it out of the box was to drop it into a pitcher of water. I figured that if it was going to be my "beater", then it would be getting wet all the time. It passed with flying colors.

I read a review today of a saturation diver taking one of these and testing it "FOR REAL". Aside from some rusting spots, it did OK. Here is the link:

I have seen this watch in your photo and in the photos of Trusty Angius and PerfectClones ($ 278)

The watch in the photo of the sites has the pearl different to your watch. Is it a new version or...... ???

BUMP for an answer to this question.....I noticed the same thing.
