Guest avitt Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 A few months ago, I traded for a used stainless steel Bell & Ross BR03-92. Since I've been dabbling in coating services, I decided to use this piece as a sample for Diamond Like Coating (DLC), applied using the PVD process. Some of you probably caught this thread, where I started the project by polishing and bead-blasting the parts. I just recently received the coated parts back, and assembled the watch. I'm impressed with the results...Let me know what you think: Here are a couple of "texture shots", taken in full light: For those of you who haven't seen the gen, this is the look I was after: There are only a couple of thing left to do before I call this one complete. First, I'm going to wipe down the entire case with gun bluing oil. This will darken down the finish a little, and eliminate any fingerprint issues. And then it will be off to Everestwatchworks for a lume job. Anyone interested in the DLC finish can see another example here.
Ztech Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Nice! I can't wait till you get her fully complete.
dluddy Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Looks great Avitt. Nicely done Interesting to know that the Gun Bluing Oil will work on the DLC coating...might try some on my DSN PVD
mikellem Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Avitt, This is the nicest I have seen so far! Enjoy your new beauty~
Guest avitt Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Thanks for the comments, guys. Looks great Avitt. Nicely done Interesting to know that the Gun Bluing Oil will work on the DLC coating...might try some on my DSN PVD OK, nix on the oil idea. I tried a minimal amount of this: ...it's a very thin oil, with Teflon. I didn't like the results (too uneven). Then I tried a 100% silicone product, with about the same results. I finally decided the finish looks nice enough as is, so I washed everything off with soap & water Here are a couple of shots of the back:
rolli Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 yeah thats the right way. everything is well done. rolf
