Swapping a CN into a NOOB

Gentleman! I need your knowledge

I have a CN GMT and I would like to swap to a better case like the noob gmt.

So, following the ancient philosophus Clarksionius: "How hard can it be?"

I should buy a noob gmt case+dial, install the new dial+hands and swap the movement! Easy!

But I thinked about it...again...and again... and then I realized that....

the date window on the cn dial is too far right.... the date windows cut isn't alone....the date disc it's probably misaligned to right too!!!

So, if I swap it and put on a noob dial....the date won't match because of the date disc that was printed for the cn dial!

Am I right?

I'm not sure which case you're starting with...or the specific movement you have. Depending on which one...you MAY need a different movement holder ring to fit the CN movement into the Noob case properly. As to the date window and date wheel, again, depending on the movement you are starting with, you may well be able to swap the date disc...or if the date discs are incompatible, you will likely be able to slice off the appropriate date overlay and glue it onto the relevant movement you are using. Test it for alignment in all positions (use a slow setting glue to allow for this) and you should be good to go.

Most of these cheap watches use date overlays on the datewheels so swapping that between movements should be pretty easy. Make sure to use the appropriate dial spacer so the thickened date wheel can turn properly.

Those are very goint points!

From pics you see that the CN case is a little bit different than the noob..the space between the bezel and the cg...or is just the bezel that is larger?

The holder ring could be a problem too.

Sometimes you gotta ask yourself, "Wouldn't it maybe be easier just buying a Noob GMT?"

By the time you track down the correct datewheel and assuming you get it installed w/o screwing it up, and you apparently already have access to a noob case and dial, but.... what's it going to cost and how much time are you going to spend chasing parts, etc. and if it doesn't work...

Is it really worth it? For a little over $100 you could just buy a noob GMT and be done with it.
