Sir-Lancelot
Maybe I should not have spoiled it, would have been funny seeing people mailing Ruby for pricing on this 1:1 rep.

ExtraExtra
I think asking to have a closer look is offensive. Probably because you think or feel that it is not real....you gauge the person who wears it and size it up. I know a fellow at work who is a sales rep and wears a rep daytona and panerai. You can tell it is a rep on the daytona because the subdials are not lined up, they dont move except the large seconds hand. Same goes for the panerai...u can tell without a closer look that it is a rep. I did not call it as I did not want to embarass the person or mess up his fun. It was just fun for me to know that they were reps. Oh and yes, a breitling super avenger on ss bracelet IS intimidating.
Nightstroker
I am skeptical of all high end watches that I see on the public wrist.... However....when I see an old man or woman wearing a Rolex....the odds of that watch being a rep is probably less than 8%....so I dont question the old folks very much....I cant really draw a line where the age referring to "Old man" is defined....It just varies from person to person.... Also....If I see someone wearing a watch that has not been repped yet then that is a for sure gen.... So with that in mind....I am skeptical of all high end watches....there are clowns like us all over the place ....some are just more into it than others....most people will buy a rep and whether or not they are aware of it....will wear it regardless of how awful or good of a clone it is....others will dive deep into the rabbit hole and not settle for less than spot on quality.... Also....let it be stated for the record that no man or woman will ever fool me with their replica watch.... I saw a fellow the other day wearing a rep Patek....today he was wearing a gen Rolex GMT....
Katerchen
I think asking to have a closer look is offensive. . Hmm... interesting thread we always have these once in a while. Its funny to read what other people come across. I dont think that it is really offensive to ask in agently manner to take a closer look on ones guys watch you have to differentiate imo pretty much on "where" you do ask, on which occasion and "who" you ask. It can be completely fine to ask if for example you do subsequently explain that you just want to take a glimpse because you are too a watch-nut person I dont want to hijack but i just had 3 "encouters" of this kind dealing with the topic "gen watch/nice watch or not": The firts one where i was 101% sure that the watch was a rep was a short attendance in a shop for cell phones... I was just entering to ask about a certain celly i was interested in when i immediately spotted a fake rlx gmt on the wrist of the shop-owner... it was easy to tell, the watch wasnt at all in a decent condition and had some really large water drops on the inside of the dial as if he went swimming with the crown released lol. They didnt had the type of phone i was interested in store altough it was advertised by the company. During the sales conversation i could "filter out" some excuses of the owner that sales werent that good during past months. In this case, i would never mention something about his watch or about the water damage! Ok, i could be wrong as well about my valuation of his "rep" but cmon who the f**k would spent the money on a genuine rolex and NOT send it for service when he runs a shop for mobile phones with customer attendance?? When i got out of the shop i couldnt restrain myself of a big grin sorry The second encounter of this kind was during an external training course of the insurance company i work. This time i was the one that somehow should have been playing the "victim part". We were mixed together, all in all about 20 persons including senior management of the company. Some of the faces known for years, others completely new to me. I wore my daily beater (mbk ap jumbo) as usual for biz attendaces, all people came dresses in suits... one of the senior manager did spott my watch during training excursion. We werent familiar/known to each other at all before that time. Maybe he didnt also know my name before he asked me about my watch. In a short smoking-break of the training course i was standing together with some colleagues and executives i know for many years. Then this coarsely son wearing a ss quartz tag-heuer chimed inside our group, standing about 4 feet away of my shoulder, the first think he said was "Is this a gen one?" lol I instantly replied "Yes, what did you expect?" lol... what an a**hole!! Beeing inside this biz for about 12 years, i would never ask something like that in front of other people or in private. I dont care too much about other peoples clothing habits but i know for sure many associates of mine wearing almost everything from rolex over breitling to omega and panerai. Ok... i leave the comments to you. The last encounter where i (somehow) did behave like a stupid a**hole was when i was in town (frankfurt on the main) visiting an AD i just know passing by: I was wearing an VC Overseas rep, did just have a client date nearby and was just glancing at some AP ROOs and a AP jumbo is saw in the display window. This area (street) is very well known for its ADs and fashion boutiques. Before entering the shop, i first had to give a sign to one of the securities to push the button for the release buzzer of the shop door. Its not that unusual in that area of the city and often you can hear of attempted robberies but i wasnt going to shot somethin like this. After beeing asked by one of the salesgirls, replying i am interested in AP watches, i was told to wait... they will send me somebody "special". A minute later one of the head salesman and watchmaker did arrive at my table. I said i wanted to take a closer look at one of the AP watches, a ROO displayed in the window and furthermore id like to see both AP jumbos (15202 and 15300). We started a little conversation then... just general bla bla and small talk on what my occupation is and what watches i wear usual. When i sat there, talkin and holdin the watches in hands... trying them on my wrist i didnt notice the sound of the door buzzer anymore. Our table was near the shop door. Everytime somebody wants to enter or to leave the shop, somebody of the sales ppl has to push the button first. Irritating sound, but i was so immersed inside the beautiful pieces i held that i ignored this surrounding. After a while (must have been about 15 minutes inside shop) the head salesman noticed my VC Overseas i had to lay off the table to try on the APs. Beautiful watch - he said - may i have a closer look? Without beeing able to make a clear thought about it, i said - yes. After the AD took the VC in hands, turning it around and inspecting it, my indisposition arose thanks god i ended my exploration on the 3 APs he brought to our table and i could lay all of the 3 watches on the table - giving him a grin - just as if i wanted to say without words - "fine watches, can i have my VC now and leave?". He then said, "fine piece you have there" laying back the VC on the table... puh. I just asked somethin about prices of the ROO and the jumbo models and put my watch quick on again. I said, im sorry i have to leave because my "midday break" is over now but im interested in one of the jumbos. He said, about the price we can talk about a deduct in discount and he gave me his card. We shook hands, i turned around and left the shop after he pushed the door release button for me. I must have sweat under my sports coat. Believe it or not, before i got inside my car - i took a closer look on his card - besides watchmaker it said: AD for Audemars Piguet bla bla and ---> Vacheron Constantin! lol I dont know if he detected my watch as a rep, but one thing is for sure: i would have never do this again, if i knew the guys inside the shop were ADs for Vacheron Constantin! lol Everything mentioned aboved is for entertainment purpose only George
_brian_
Anyone wearing a Nardin is wearing a genuine, unless it is a total POS. Ask me how I know, there is no decent rep of them and that makes me sad. Me too... I

blade007
all quartz watches are gen in my book and not worth investigating further. If I see a quartz of an automatic thats a sure give away anyway, again not worth investigating.
trailboss99
Agreed. Asking if a watch is gen seems like the worst manners, especially if the thing is a blatant fake. Who am I to spoil somebody's fun ? I wear some great reps to work and I've only been complimented twice. One was my Beginmariner and I told the guy it was a fake. The other was my white SOSF. I said, " Thanks. It's a Breitling." I felt kind of bad about doing that. I recently had a couple appointments with an MD. The first time he had the cheeziest of faded gold plated Navitimers on. I said " Nice Breitling !" Last time I saw him he had on a breathtakingly beautiful TT Rolex with the blue dial. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is a fantasy watch or else it was made for a limited Japanese market. Either it was gen or it was one of the top of the line triple plated jobs that TTK was selling at one time. At any rate, it was an intimidating watch. There are some stunning examples of the BD sub arround now. Have a looky at eurotimez TT sub. Even the noob TT is quite a piece in the flesh. Their not plate but wrapd gold and it makes a big difference. The blue on the dial of the Euro or the MBK is sooooo deep. Yep, a LL Bean rep! What is the world comming to? I quite like it as a watch but come on, the gen is hardly expensive.
