milsub5517 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) It seems to me that the lume dots and lume in general are the only "major" problems with the new skyland. Can't the lume dots be removed and reapplied properly during lume job? Can our in-house pro's comment on this please? (dial close up below was borrowed from timepiece): Edited July 31, 2008 by mil_sub
jdinjax Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I was hoping/thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, I must have really drawn the short straw with mine. Nine out of the twelve markers are off center. Three of them really bad. I'm hoping the dealer (one of the most recommended ones here) makes good on his reputation. One, two, hec even three could be tolerated, but where's the QC....nine?

bwhitesox Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 LOL. The gen dial doesn't even have these blobby bits of lume so not sure why they did this. YEs they can be removed and redone and it should be really easy to do.
strattakan Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Look everybody, the new guy asked about Q.C!!!!
jdinjax Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Thanks for the warm welcome carlsbad.... Everyone starts out as a new member. If QC isn't something that this community encourages are "preferred" dealers to uphold, then why do we buy from them? Why not take our chances on CQOut, DHGate, etc.
Samurai Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 @jdinjax....chill mate. Am sure CBR was just yanking your chain

milsub5517 Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) guys you are going OFF TOPIC here. it dos not metter how many are off center, the question is : Can it be easily fixed during lume job? if the answer is yes, then this watch deserves good lume anyway, so markers shouldnt be a BIG issue. although i agree that it is annoying. they ALWAYS screw up something LOL ! jdinjax Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Back on topic here...I have my watch at a local trusted watchsmith to see if it can be done without costing significant $$. I will post once he gets back to me.
rocky78 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I only have 2 lume dots that needs fixing... guess which...
Sir-Lancelot Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I have flicked them off with a tooth pick. they come off complete with very little force. Now I am sure this could scratch your dial if you are not careful, but I did not have any problems doing this with other reps. (113 PAM and a Datejust.
cib0rgman Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 I will not say is easy, but is easy for The Zigmeister. he is off.
milsub5517 Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 ok, then looks like my skyland will be going for a lume job. Yay!!!
peyups Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 I actually have the same question a long time ago over a Breit Super Ocean Heritage 48mm at RG. But I can't find the thread anymore! haha. Now I will subscribe to this thread as I want to fix those misaligned lume dots as well..
BROM Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 I only have 2 lume dots that needs fixing... guess which... 1 and 2

milsub5517 Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 What happened to the 3 hour mark? its cut in-half and the day window is way too close to the side. Is this V1 skyland?? I only have 2 lume dots that needs fixing... guess which...
DuDro Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 ....The gen dial doesn't even have these blobby bits of lume so not sure why they did this.... Are you sure? The Skylands that I've seen have lume dots...
takashi Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 The lume dots should be larger filling up the white background space. Yes, it can be removed with a toothpick.
Guest carlsbadrolex Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Calm down new guy... I was playing with ya! After your here awhile (shouldnt be too long) You will realize Im a sick [censored]!
rocky78 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 What happened to the 3 hour mark? its cut in-half and the day window is way too close to the side. Is this V1 skyland?? Yup, this is 'the one and only' V1, every collectors must have,

Why not take our chances on CQOut, DHGate, etc. Because then we all wouldn't get our commission checks from the preferred dealers.
