KEVN97A4
first off I'm totally new to watches... I just love the B&R and want to get a rep. After reading this forum I've got some questions. anyone with a 17 cm wrist out there wearing a 42mm watch? What the heck does it look like? AR coating- how bad is the one on the knockoffs? PVD- saw posts that show ajoesmith's PVD and it looks good.. I've tried to PM him but his box is full.. is he the only one that makes the PVD look that good. I wouldnt mind buying a watch from him.. what does he charge? Suprlume- I see the reps have incorrect superlume.. like one collor on one hand and different color on others... i'm guesing superlume increases the brightness...but does it also match the color to what the Gen looks like? How much does Superlume cost? Movements- I've seen the following movements offered...which one should I go for? -Asian 2836 with clone automatic movement - CN-2813 Automatic movement - Swiss-2836 Automatic movement (and this is going to be real dumb now... automatic movement means your hand movement winds the watch RIGHT? Water Resistance- I noticed some reps say water resistance(dont take them into water) while others actually say say a certain depth (like here ">20 Meters" http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=39) Are any of the reps waterproof? I dont intend to dive in them..but dont want to think about taking the watch off if I jump into the shower or pool really fast. and lastly... Which website should I get it from? Thanks guys. Thanks guys. you have 2 choices. either go to a site like angus and buy your watch and enjoy or get answers to all those questions. to do the later i recomend continuing to research. all the answers are here on the forum. the only "mod" i would recomend on a br is ar. there are 2 members who do ar coating for very reasonable price. forget about the lume. just take whatever it comes with. yes automatic watches wind from movement either by your wrist or watch winder. ok thats your 10 cents of free advice. now hit the books. and be ready to empty your wallet
KEVN97A4
thanks for answering some of my questions....I did do some searching before I posted and would appreciate if other members could adress my other questions
fotoman
hey man you just signed up. and you want all the answers dished out. i usually recomend a good 2 weeks of reading alot per day before buying your first rep. sit back, pull up a chair and read awhile
chubbchubb
As Phoband said, the answers are all here... forum members are usually happy to help - unless you give them the feeling that your first stop is the "answer all my questions in five minutes so I can move on and buy my rep" section. Enjoy the addiction...
KEVN97A4
guys as you see from my questions I didnt just log in and post away... I did do a few days of reading.... I've been a member of a ton of forums and usually the pros help the newbies out... I've done some searching and "waterpoof" "water resistant" didnt get me much answers re the bell and ross 03-92 in my original question. I suppose I could search the forum for each single question and read pages of irrelevant posts until I MIGHT get the answer I'm looking for. Or someone with the knowledge can help me out...so I can order the best watch that fits me and go on enjoying life.... I do appreciate a good replica watch now that I've seen some of the pictures/ read some info... but you're making in sound like I should quit my full time job and raise my post count here until someone will regard me with a response? Is that really how it is here?

As someone new to the world of reps, I wanted direct answer from the veterans too. But the more I read, the more I realised that the answers that the helpful bros here give may be good and insightful but not one that is "customised and tailored" to what you may need. So it will be really good for you to plough through the invaluable wisdom and knowledge that have been left behind by our forefathers!
Watchmeister
I will take a quick shot. There is no such thing as water resistant or waterproof (or at least no real assurances) unless you have a watch properly serviced and all the seals greased. On the BR-03 if it is the one I think it is (PVD) your biggest issue is getting one with correct PVD. I don't believe the ones straight from the dealer have a good coating. Ajoesmith offered a limited run with true PVD some time ago but they are long since sold out. If you want that level of watch you will have to put out a want to buy ("WTB"). There is no fake screws issue as there is only one screw on the back (albeit somewhat out of place). The lume is what it is. There are one or two folks who will do it but I don't know of anyone who is accepting new customers who can do it. Ar is offered by a couple of sources but you will have to have the crystal taken out. And yes I would go for the ETA. Just ask whichever dealer you choose. The dealers on the forum are not here by accident. They have withstood the test of many transactions.

Agree that the PVD on the factory reps is awful...If you've ever seen a gen B&R, it's an instant tell (too black and shiny, and they just coat over the brushed stainless finish). I can provide a much more genuine looking DLC finish., but it aint cheap... Edited August 6, 2008 by avitt

fotoman
one thing you will learn, is there aren't always black and white answers - if you want to come in, buy a rep and move on - you have already found enough websites to do that - If you want to become a collector, or try to work through the finer points of the buis - well, your going to have to do it just like the rest of us did- read and learn if you hadn't shown that you read up, i wouldn't have replied at all to your post, answering some of your questions - this forum, is easy - the more you give, the more you get. Thanks for the answers guys.... I do appreciate them.. I don't know IF i'll become a collector... I think this watch might decide things for me... I've never really been into watches... but I'll probably pick one up from King or PureTime.... I did try to PMl Ajoesmith to find out if he has any left (I like his PVD a lot) If someone has on thats been modded (Better AR or nicer PVD or better Lume) I'd be interested in picking one up..... I'll look around the forum for another week or so and if by then I dont find anyone I'll pull the trigger on one from the stores mentioned above... Great forum here and I'm learning a lot.... Avitt how much do you charge for the PVD and Where did you get that strap? It's sweet!

z3k0
Just one thing to add to this discussion - most of 03-92s that are offered by our collectors have completely wrong looking case (when looked at from side), it is too thick and lacks "indentation" it should have. I guess that is because these cases are made to accommodate 2836 size movements. No mod can take care of that, that is why I sold both of these I had. King have few of them tat have correct looking case (like http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-048.htm), but based on pictures it has some other issues like dial print. I haven't seen any review of this watches, so I can't tell anything for sure. regards

Ups, sorry, this is correct link: http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-048.htm Also following models: http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-047.htm http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-046.htm http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-049.htm Like I said, these are only models that look to have correct case - based on pictures. And it has correct size movement, 2892 copy. I didn't have it in my hands, so I can't guarantee anything. I've had DG 2813 based model ( http://www.kingwatches.net/BELL&ROSE-035.htm ), it is nice rep, but definitely wrong looking case . best regards

KEVN97A4
thank you. King said they have this watch with the 2834 movement... is that the correct size movement for the smalle size case? It's hard to communicate with King (probably because of the language barrier) Also I did a search for 2834 movements but there is not much info on them... Doesn't sound right...At 5.25mm, the 2834 is even thicker than the 2836.
