pollux1
As the topic's title suggests, I need to dissolve or remove superglue from springbars stuck in a IWC Ingy, and if anyone knows where I could get some springbars for the same watch, that would be great. I'm sure you can guess what happened lol.
KB
Try scrapping it off (lightly) with a razor or box knife first, in many cases superglue will no adhere well to metal surfaces, especiall if it is not high grade steel. Ken
FxrAndy
Spring Bars, the only spring bar is in the clasp?
pollux1
@ Andy, I don't know for sure, but they look like bars of some sort where the bracelet/strap fits on to the Ingy. Ken it seems the glue seeped into the hole where the bars are in place when the strap that was fitted came apart and my younger brother tried to mend it using the glue
KB
Ok thiis going to be a little more difficult and requires you having replacement springbars, but I would try breaking the existing SB's out, getting a drill bit of the correct diameter and using your fingers reboring any traces of the glue out of the holes. KB
I just spent a bit of time Googling around about this as it is largely not heard of in Oz. Quite literally if your kid super glued himself to anything here you had to take them to hospital to get them apart. Ken
phaedo
Kids these days! Back in my day a kid superglues himself to something, he stayed stuck!
narikaa
If you have kids (or people in general) in proximity to super glue it behooves you to have the antidote handy .
pollux1
Gentlemen, it seems I may have found the solution. The main ingredient that removes the glue is acetone, so any common or garden nail polish remover should do the trick! Thanks to all of you who posted, and if anyone knows where to get hold of new springbars for the Ingy i'd be most grateful for the info
