I just received a Navitimer Serie Speciale and not quite sure how to get it wound. It actually has stopped several times today on me and I had to reset it. One notch out on the crown is setting the date and two is setting the time.

With the Navitimers you wind it when the crown is in (for normal use and wear) However, do it very very slowly and carefully, as winding the crown regularly will eventually ruin some of the gears in the movement.

Thanks for the help. When I wind it counter-clockwise, I just hear clicking. However, when I wind it clockwise, I hear a sound like someone is scratching finger nails on a chalk board along with the clicks. Is this normal?

it's not normal...but happens with the asia7750 movements- I have one or two that are producing the very same sound...I usually give it a couple of turns through the crown, very gently and then put the watch on my wrist and the PR goes up by normal wear...

yep - wind it clockwise a few times to get it going - set time, date and just wear it - your movement will continue to auto wind itself throughout the day, unless you're sitting at a desk with almost no movement.

if you find it's stopping, it's possible the movement needs more power to "work in" the lubrication and wear the metal slightly (on a microscopic scale) - the asian movements will have more load (read:friction) - slowly wind it clockwise about 40x (each wind being about 2/3rds of a full rotation) to get full power and let us know how it goes.

we want pictures too ;)
