rmcsherry Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 This is a long shot... I know most people with Angelus projects have spare (key wound) movements for parts. What I'm looking for is a replacement bridge (the one that usually has Angelus engraving on it), with wide CDG decoration. If anybody would be interested in a trade - either direct trades of bridges, complete key-wound movements (I've got a couple to choose from, including one NOS perfect for parts), or for other hard to source parts for these movements - hands, gears, you name it. Or, I could make you a custom-engraved dial for a vintage project to your design! Any help would be appreciated - the bridge decoration looks similar to this (old photo, not the movement in question!)
dadog13 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Hi R.... Is this what you would need? shoot me an e-mail cause right now I am going out of my office...and will not be on the forum but I will have my blackberry with myself so we can chat...
rmcsherry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 Thanks for the reply - email sent. But, still looking
Clint Eastwood Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I have it with wide deco but on the movement i will use for my next project, like you know. I prefer this wide deco instead of the small one. But if you want, i am OK for a trade for a non alarm stem wound one
Watchmeister Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 R- Best of luck. Finding a proper CDG plate for a non-alarm stem wound is like finding a needle in a haystack.
rmcsherry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 I've got the non-alarm plate, what I need is the smaller Angelus engraved plate with 3 jewels on it! Frustratingly, I sold a key-winder with the correct decoration a few months ago for virtually nothing ($50 - there's eBay for you!). This is almost exactly what I'm after: ...these come decorated with wide CDG on the cheaper key-wound clocks (which people use as spares as they can't be installed into watches) - so hopefully we could arrange a trade for a movement like the following one pictured, or I could supply any part you need for your vintage project (including a dial made to your specifications - see example Angelus dial images attached). Somebody? Anybody?! Thanks for the replies so far.
dadog13 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 the dials look amazing...I wish you all the luck in sourcing the part you are after...
ubiquitous Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Can't help with the part... But damn. Those dials are amazingly gorgeous! Very nice!!
rmcsherry Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 Dadog13 has just given me a great idea and some contacts for CDG finishing

t Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 why not a HAND ENGRAVED movement? so you will never have any problems with the decorations
ravishingrick Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Nice movement T, any chance of some picas of your 240 angelus no alarm movement?
turboGUATE Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Good luck with the search R. If something comes by my side, I'll let you know. Cheers!
rmcsherry Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 why not a HAND ENGRAVED movement? so you will never have any problems with the decorations Now you're just showing off! That looks amazing, but I'm looking for the rustic charm of a vintage watch this time round. Maybe when I can afford it, one of the other movements could end up like this?!
Watchmeister Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 I love it when the Big Boys discuss vintage movements. I learn something from these posts every time. Personally, I am still waiting on my first Angelus masterpiece but hopefully the end is in sight.
