wow, a lot of nice cars in here!

I see a few other boost lovers here too!

I had a lot of fun building this car.

Frankenstien high compression motor, full interior swap, etc.

Since I sold the C5, it's now my dd.

boosted and gets 35+ on the hiway.

best I ever got was 42mpg on my way to Santa Monica CA.

(17 km per liter)

turns out I'm 6% dumb but I feel dumber having went through all forms filling in bogus info

oh and my gen watch collection outweighs my rep collection... actually i am enjoying the gens more than the reps... however i mostly just collect them.. to me they can be likened more to appreciated artwork. they just sit in a display case.

For comparison's sake, here's a few of mine, in no particular order:

Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo (targa)

Nissan/Datsun 280Z (targa)

Saab 900 turbo (the original version of the 900 pre GM)

Saab 99 EMS

Saab 96 Monte Carlo (the old sixties rally-spec one. Incredibly rare even then).

Citroen CX GTi turbo

M-Benz 230TD estate (I put around 150,000 miles on that one - still drove like new).

Mini Cooper S (the original sixties version)

BMW M635csi

Rover SD1 3500V8 Vitesse

What's a little annoying is how many of those cars are now considered classics and are appreciating in value. There's at least three there that I wish I still owned :)

I lived in a third world country for a while, and have never had what could be described as real disposable income, even since returning to the west. I am proud to have owned the following rides (starting in 1982 at age 26 on a visit to the USA en route back to Blighty, and mostly one at a time):

What I don't have, though, are photos of the various cars I've owned over the years.... More interested in driving them than taking pics of 'em.

I'll take a pic of the Benz I buy when and if the damned insurance company ever make a bloody decision (getting mighty [censored] off with 'em, let me tell you). My only consolation is that I managed to persuade them to upgrade my courtesy car from the poverty spec Peugeot heap I've been driving. Only a Vectra, but given that's what got mashed by the tree, it's fair enough, I guess...

John, I doubt very much if that method would work. Satisifying, but not productive.

I've had a few nice cars in the past. None ATM, just driving a Subi 4x4 wagon. '86 L series. Leonie wagon to you guys (I think) turbo 1.8.

It's fun if you learn to use torque instead of power. A hundred fifty HP can go a long way if theres a bit of grunt behind it and the torque curve on this thing heads skywards and stays there. Basicly standered except for the reprogramed comp, OTB intercooler and 200SX injectors.

I'v had a 308 Ferrari for a while, a Marcos, Jag XJS coupe, '89 IROC, 930T amongst others. Most for no more than a year or less. I had a great '78 450SEC for ages. It was an South Africa model with a four speed manual and LSD. The engine had been built by somone who new fast mercs and the 5 litre transplant was puting out 400hp at the rear wheels! It was a benz that performed like a big block Camero. Those benz quad cams are real good engines when built by somone who knows what th're doing.

I started out with a string of Minis ending in a Cooper S puting out 120 plus HP. That was fun!

I'll try to find some pics but most of the early stuff in on tranny and I don;t have a slide scanner. One day I'll have them all done but it won't be cheap. There's five thousand odd tranparencys there.

There is a secret to owning older expensive cars. Buy very wisely and don't get too attached.

I have taken months to find the right car. Books are all important. Full documented dealer or specialist serviceing is far more important than the milage on the clock. I would much rather have a higher milege example with a good service history than a lower one thats history is unknowen.

Unless you are in a position to pay for potentialy expensive repairs be prepared to start looking for a new drive in a year or two. You spent all that time finding a good car that would give you trouble free motoring. Now sell it while it still does. When this stuff breaks, it costs real money. Ever priced suspension components for a jag? A brake system rebuild? Or, heaven forbid, an engine rebuild?

The whole idea is to pass it on BEFORE it gives trouble. Twenty thousand miles or so is quite enough even for a good one.If you bought well and have taken care of your moden classic the drop in value should be minimal. If you'r lucky it may even have appreciated a little bit. The advantage of this is that you get to pick a new car every year or two. The pain of parting with the E30 M3 is soon blunted by the arival of the 928s.

Try threatening them with a piece of rebar yet? You could call the adjuster and say, "hey, ever been ass-raped with a 12" piece of rebar?... oooops, sorry, I meant to say, how is my check coming!" :D

My problem is that this whole mess has to go through our Estate Manager here, who is responsible for managing our company insurance policies and claims (given that there's also a company vehicle to claim on too). Sadly he is, frankly, not staying on top of the issue, which is, I suspect, the reason why the insurance company are on a go-slow. Blood will flow before long.

Soo.... I shall use the ass-rape with rebar ploy with him instead. That'll work. :D

insurance companies are the biggest f.ucking scammers of them all - the longer they take, the more desperate people get - the more desperate people get, the less $ they will take - they have it all figured out to a science - plus the longer they keep the money, the longer they make more money from your money.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I (regrettably) do not have photos of most of my beloved ex-cars..nor of my ex-girlfriends, for that matter. This thread was, I believe "What ARE you driving"? Somewhere, someone listed his ex's, and I'm sorry you were offended.

I could take some new pics of nice cars (and girls) and post them, but there's not much point in doing that, is there? If I close my eyes and try really hard, I can remember most of the girls' names (all right then, faces..or other..no, I'm going with faces) of ex's..... :bicycle:
