Rep or Gen LV?

Greetings Folks,

I wondered if any of you good people could take a look at an LV on the Bay and tell me if anything shouts out "rep" rather than "gen"?! I'm keen to make a bid on it, having test driven a Noob for a while.

Sub LV

Time is of the essence on this one and really appreciate whatever help you can give!

Many thanks,

Paul

Lousy pictures. He's kind of hidden the crown and crown guards. Terrible picture of the pearl. Rehuat looks a little off but it's hard to tell. I'd want better pictures before I paid for it.

Only thing that looks good to me is the paperwork.

I think it is a real one !

The engraved rehaut is so much better than the replicas and the serialnumber also matching the warrenty card but You never be 100 % sure nowadays !!!

Only 2+ hours to go... But I would worry about paying this kind of dosh to a seller with only 24 feedbacks and whose ebay name is not one that indicates that he/she is a watch specialist....<_< Buy it from folks like Astor Live or Essential Watches.. they are always superb and ethical..

Just because he's got photos doesn't mean that's the watch you'll get. :)

ps. No rehaut engravings: http://www.watches.co.uk/watch.php?wid=7364S

Yeah, having been screwed twice by ebay sellers, I stick with the solid and safe ones.

You could also make an offer on this one (and pay by Paypal which protects you): http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Original-2004-Rolex-...A1%7C240%3A1318

There are some 12 LVs on ebay - check out those who: are clearly established luxury watch specialists; have over 200 positive feedbacks (nothing less than say 99.8% positive overall); and who will (but this is rare - if they do, you will probably pay more but get peace of mind) accept credit card/Paypal payments. I would then email/call the probables and negotiate the best deal - in this economic climate, vendors are becoming more flexible and realistic. For all LVs going: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/items/?_nkw=rolex+s...y&_osacat=0

You could also check out Capetown Diamond Corporation - the chairman Carl Marcus will entertain a haggle. For an LV click http://www.capetownstore.com/Merchant2/mer...ry_Code=Rolex-N

Hope the above helps - good luck. ^_^

Thanks GenRep but I'm across the pond in England and don't much fancy getting socked with customs duty, silly shipper's handling fees and Value Added Tax at 17.5%. A reasonably new/mint LV goes for between 2,700 to 3,000 Sterling over here, with the higher prices being the retail ones as you might expect. Unfortunately buying from within the EU is no longer a good option either as the pound has crashed against the Euro. However, I think I might just play it safe. The discussion here has been really helpful. I have a couple of other options and they will likely only put me a hundred or so over what I reckon the auction will end at. Don't fancy being burned and I can't afford to be...

Thanks again guys!

Thank you, thank you! Third gen in three months, whoa... I have a new addiction! BTW I am going to sell the 1997 "T" serial Sub with the tritium dial if anyone is interested. I will let it go for what I paid + paypay fees and shipping.

Cheers all...

Hey, cool!! I bought 2 gen LVs (one from Capetown Diamond Corp and the other from a Spanish ebay vendor - both unworn) myself - and have 2 rep versions from Trusty. I must say, not being anally expert, that the only major difference (as far as I'm concerned) between the reps and gens is the pearls.

Does anyone know how I could buy really true-to-gen pearls that will fit the 16600/16610 sub bezel inserts?:p

Once again, on Ebay I have found near one to one inserts for around $10-$12 each. I too have a rep LV from Eurotimez. It is my "daily beater". Early next year it goes off to The Zigmeister for some mods including the bezel insert and crown guard mod.

Cheers...
