asiparks
I have no interest in this posting, and those who are wiser than me, ( depressingly, many), will know if this sounds legit or not, but I stumbled upon this ad on my local Craigslist. thought it might be useful for someone building a super Daytona Franken....Incidently another advertiser has one of the qartz Sub reps for $10, I'm curiously tempted... http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/jwl/955127109.html
alligoat
Looks like a franken builder in Portland! Like the vague way in which he describes the watch and apparently disavows any responsiblility. The assymetrical pushers are nice, can't figure out the serial # though. $5K is a little steep IMO. freddy333
Ditto. And based on the distant, slightly out-of-focus pictures (typical scammer ploy), I suspect there is less here than meets the eye. If you know what I mean.
steppen
with gens starting to pop up fpr around 8.5k USD, i think the desirability of the franken daytonas is lessening, no? i mean to put one together will run you about 6k.

Vintage Rolex prices have certainly dropped, but I have yet to see a 62xx Daytona in any kind of reasonable condition going for less than $20k. If you find a certified gen for $8.5k, please PM me the link. Thanks.

alligoat
I just ran across this watch on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.com/WITTNAUER-VALJOUX-72-C...%3A1%7C294%3A50 I would think that the cost of building this type of franken would run $2500-3000, maybe a little less, maybe a little more, depending on how many genuine parts you put in there and the trouble you go to changing out bridges, etc. on the movement. This builder apparently just slapped in a Wittnauer V72 according to the description. And it looks like the price is coming down- starting bid at $2500.
