  1. the single digit date might look ok in the watch that went to Ryan's other customer, but his double digit dates might be off too, sometimes the dates are great 1-9, then go off base 10-31...
  2. I'd still go with ZF. it has the concentric circles and better date window shape, size and position
  3. Great post...re-enfocing the notion that I'd much rather be Bond.... The RAF strap lacks the extra piece of webbing that goes under the watch, so it's less bulky than the Nato. Here's a great source for very high quality straps, including variations on the Bond theme... http://www.timefactors.com/natostraps.htm
  4. Sounds like a great trip and what a beautiful watch, but by god that's the ugliest cat I've ever seen....
  5. 38K ? I'm guessing you meant 8K, though there are a couple on watch recon for less than that... i'd wait it out a while, someone is bound to do one in the near future, (hopefully with the bracelet or nato). I have one of the regular Fifty Fathoms reps and it is ridiculously, scarily good....If the same factory could do the Bathyscaphe it would likely be amazing
  6. 3717 if you can find one, 3777, 3719 aquatimer if you can one, either of the Top Guns, 3789 or 3799 if you don't mind the faux rattrapante feature, ( likewise the visually excellent 3718 ) Portuguese 3714 looks good, the "4" can be a giveaway, but the biggest concern is the sketchy movement
  7. As noted by Mr Alves, you may be tired of hearing it, but you are hilariously wrong. But please, carry on.
  8. the consensus seems to be that you may get a proper 7750, but it might not be new, or it maybe assembled from many different gen eta parts. The asian 7750 by an large seems to be pretty reliable, on the off chance it does go titsup, it's as cheap just to buy another watch.
  9. my wife has the tiny 5 3/4" wrist of a Kenyan marathoner and it looks good on her, so it stands to reason.... ....
  10. you assume people (even gen owners ) have a clue, or care, in what order hands should be stacked.... He appears to sell a vast assortment of stuff, he probably bought it in good faith and is trying to sell it for what he believes it's worth.
  11. stand 15 feet away from your monitor so the watch looks about lifesize and see if you can still spot the lume issues.....
  12. Word. I have to beat the chicks away with a sh1tty stick when I wear mine. The crap rep strap is the first problem, you've got that sorted, do the PR indicator yourself, it takes 5 minutes, then call it good. You can do AR or relume, but I wouldn't bother, the difference will be very minor, it's a great rep.
  13. be grateful you even see pics of your watch, it wasn't very long ago that, with the exception of Ruby, you got what you got..... Angus is by far one of the better dealers in this regard, and as mentioned, he will take the time to try and make you happy. It's probably turning into a huge [censored] pain now as everyone is getting incredibly picky over tiny macro details and forgetting that these are fake watches banged out as fast as reasonably possible for a fraction of the cost of a gen, they will never be perfect. I got my pics on Sunday, my bezel is not perfect, it doesn't bug me and no one else that I'll ever meet likely cares either.
  14. Depending on mood, sales targets, which brand you're buying, whether they decide they like you, some will negotiate a discount. I decided that i couldn't be arsed with that business model. I research, if there's a rep version I'll wear that a while, then I'll look for used one from one of the reputable online dealers.
  15. Jomashop, watchuwant, Bernardwatch, watchseller, chronomaster.co.uk, thegoldenswan I've bought new or pre owned gens from all these and been very pleased. Also check out watchrecon.com
  16. PVD is a method of getting the color onto the watch, like brushing or spraying. It is not in of itself a finish or color. Lots of different black substances can be applied by PVD, some will look shiny, some matte, some black, some grey. DLC will vary dependent on the finish of the metal underneath, apply over a high polish steel and it will have a sheen, apply it over a fine media blasted surface, it will appear matte. the 026 is a good rep, I've had mine for in regular rotation, there's some wear on the underside of the lugs, but no scratches or wear yet. The v2 has a better dial and a correct matte finish CG pin.
  17. combination of lighting, exposure, white balance, oils from fingertips etc.
  18. yup, 21mm. The 3717 bracelet fits perfectly.
  19. Angus has a V1 vs V2 pictorial over in his dealer section on RG, showing the completely new, thinner case.....No price yet..... I thought the DW was supposed to be white though..?
  20. the dial or the internal rotating bezel ? The gen is a really nice watch, I've not seen a half decent rep though
  21. Yup, the gen with the yellow accents was only available in Ti, not SS. The Hour markers are also incorrect, on the Ti/yellow version, they are all white retangular lume battons, not silver with little lumed bits at the outer tip.
  22. is it yet dispooched ? Enquiring minds wish to know.... I really want to pull the trigger on one of these....
  23. gen bracelet- it doesn't have the holes on the side of the clasp per the reps, links are all exactly the same shape and the pins have precise, flat ends. very nice....btw
  24. a picture of the side engravings.... Gen 3799 Vs rep 3789 they appear closer in color than the pics suggest, if anything the gen is less silvery than the rep. The difference in execution is clear however.....The V2 has a very "bright" engraving. the gen has very fine concentric circles within the 12 and 6 subdials. The V1 lacks them, the V2 has them but they're too chunky and visible. Having a gen in front of me right now, the circles are invisible in anything other than strong, off center light where the ridges create a light shadow. To all intents and purposes they're invisible, so I would say that the V1 dial captures the "spirit" of the gen a bit better..... gen on left, V1 rep on right..... The V1 crown is spot on, there's no appreciable difference comparing it to the gen, the V2 is too thick and 2 grey in color.
