  1. it's loosely based on 3 boutique specials, the Bartorelli, Beverly Hills and the Bellusso Big Pilots. It's an attractive watch, but it's not at all accurate, in terms of date window location, finish, subdial size and location etc.
  2. coming from someone named after a car my wife's hairdresser drives......
  3. can you post a pic, be curious to see what one looked like
  4. well, picked up a gen today, got to say, the logo is a muted dark silver and i don't even notice it.... it shows up lighter in pics than in real life it's exactly the same as on my V1 TG rep.... Not that i wouldn't like it just a bit better if it weren't there......
  5. there's the blue dialed Carlson version too, another run of 50 pieces...not a big fan of the white day/date and it's not nearly as sexy as the one above...
  6. you are correct, those are GST watches, despite differences in case size, lug width and on your aquatimer example, external bezel, they share the same profile and lugs and bracelet design. The 3707 chrono is far from the latest, here's other later examples that show the GST case very clearly... GST Rattrapante GST Perpetual and my very own Slevin Although the latter are generally known as Aquatimers, they are still GSTs. back on topic, I have no idea why they haven't been repped, they are rather nice watches. I would kill for a rep of the Vintage AT
  7. Well it sort of is a GST, they're just not commonly referred to as such, GST describes that particular family of case style.
  8. multi layered superluminova under a sapphire bezel apparently....llashings of SL everywhere else i guess..... i purloined these pics from another site.....
  9. be interesting to see how well the rep factories pull this off... No one seems to be really interested in the new models....
  10. are you sure the marks are scratches ? The ceramic is very, very hard. They may be deposits of whatever it was that scratched against the watch. If i try to scratch mine with a knife it leaves what appears to be a silver scratch, but it is a trail of knife blade that will wipe off with an oiled rag. I'll bet that something white has just marked your watch, but it will come off.
  11. Erm, the PR is set to about 6 1/2, not zero. It would be nice if it were at 7. I went for the non functional PR version because the dial is way, way more faithful to the gen. And if you were wearing the gen, the indicator is pretty much always going to be at 7 all the time.
  12. It came from Andrew (trusty), i must have gotten lucky as his supplier also erroneously delivered the older version to people instead of this one.
  13. Previously posted pics: mine: mine is slightly recessed, doesn't appear to be a sunken as in the previous posters pics, but it doesn't appear as unsunken as the ones that Vac modded in his section. AR is at least as good as on my 2 gen aquatimers but the strap is still an utter joke, it's worn through to the plastic under the deployment clasp
  14. i sort of agree, it's very hard to see the actual rings, but I could see the sheen from them appearing to move around the subdials as I moved the watch around under the light. If that makes sense....
  15. Oddly enough, I would say that it's one of the better IWC reps out of the box -My dial is and has remained dust free and the markers are straight. -the rep strap is indeed stiff and generally high in suckage, but the gen is not that special...mines on a white stitched/black 22/22 leather now. -it's a sticker underneath glass, which is i believe the same as gen, though the gen might well be sapphire -laser engraving doesn't look bad, but might be a bit scrappy compared side by side to gen.... on the plus side - excellent, almost colorless AR - excellent day/date wheels - very accurate dial texture and color with nice quality printing, captures the slightly sheeny and raised numerals very nicely - accurate shape /color hands - smooth winding crown with accurate hidden threading. - grey rings or not...The gen I've seen had gloss black rings that appear grey when the light hits them from above, they were not printed grey. - it is missing the faint concentric circles on the 12 and 6 subdials - titanium pushers and crown..i honestly can't tell if they are or if they're SS. The gen I saw had duller grey pushers and crown than the rep. - er that's it looking forward to your review of the V2
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mens-IWC-Aquatimer-GST...3A2%7C294%3A200 selling a 07 Cousteau with pictures of a Split Minute, 07 CD and an 06 CD..... which do you imagine you'll get.... reported ......
  17. tag for review.... Darn You !!!! it was your review/lovely pics of the V1 that made me get a V1, now i have to start saving again ??!! ah...such is rep life........
  18. I sat on the fence on this one for a while, as when i buy something spendy, the price invariably halves within a day or two.... Still looking at the great pics posted by members on this and the"other" site I took the plunge with Torobravo.....( excellent service and communication BTW) It is now, by far, my fave rep (against 3717, 06 Cousteau, Pam 111, Pam 250, crapload of Omega PO chronos, Breitling SOH, GMT II etc ), they seem to have got so much right... gen looking day date, great AR, dial texture, dial fonts, hand size and shape...my only small complaint is that the titanum used for the crown and pushers does't look very titaniumish... Any small tells aside, it's just a damn fine looking watch in it's own right. Now i just have to find a 1/2 decent strap for it... anyway, some pics...
  19. hmmm more like a Tutima Mil lookalike, down to the lemania style "airplane" second hand...

  21. no, not really. It's stainless steel with a light brushing. IWC's titanium is very grey with a fine beaded finish, it looks very different. the rep also has wrong hour markers, they should be all white applied lume batons, not polished, beveled silver with separate lume sections.... taken on it's own it's a nice looking watch, but anybody who knows IWCs will spot it as a rep straight away. The all SS version is a 98%er though.....
  22. ok... mines a gen as it goes, but it gives you an idea of just how fantastic the reps are....
  23. uuummmm....I love it but unless it was a $200 rep, I'd go for the $900 Ocean 7 version with the sexy lumed sapphire bezel insert... ocean 7 version
  24. my cousteau had that too. I agree it's to help keep the movement in place. Mine fit nicely into the caseback for re-assembly, not on the movement itself. There should also be a slender o ring sitting in a narrow channel on the case itself, approx 1/2mm out from the threads.
  25. I have no interest in this posting, and those who are wiser than me, ( depressingly, many), will know if this sounds legit or not, but I stumbled upon this ad on my local Craigslist. thought it might be useful for someone building a super Daytona Franken....Incidently another advertiser has one of the qartz Sub reps for $10, I'm curiously tempted... http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/jwl/955127109.html
