How to uncase a golden watch?

Dear all,

I have a watch my grandfather gave my father and he on his turn gave it to me. I have no idea if it's an expensive watch but my father told me it was 18K gold..... and off course it is of great sentimental value.

As you can see it endured a lot, but man does that ad character ;). When it was given to me it didn't work so I want to see if I can get it running again.

Now I noticed it has a one piece case and I have absolutely no idea how to get to the movement....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Most likely a monocoque case...the crystal basically needs to be squeezed and lifted and it'll come off... force is applied to the crown with a lever-like tool and it'll come out...then you flip over the watch and out comes the movement...it was the water resistance of the 50s and 60s... one of my vintage Omegas has the same system...pain in the ass.

Scroll down and the technical aspects of the case are there...

Hope this helps :) and enjoy your new piece!

Check if it has a split stem before trying to force the crown.

Once you lift the crystal with a lift, see if you can juggle the movement, and sight the stem, (maybe try pulling the stem out)

You may see a "key" like join in the stem, which when turned to the right plane, will seperate, allowing the crown and a small section to be removed.

Then the movement will just fall out.
