mwee
As far as I know, the Pam 88 and 89 uses a A7750 movement modded to have a GMT function. Hence the sunken DW problem. Was wondering if using a Swiss ETA7750 would solve this problem or can it even be used? Any thoughts or advice on this? Thanks.
bwhitesox
I don't think so M as the Asian 7750 is modified with extra gears etc that the standard ETA doesn't have.

So the there is no way of solving the sunken DW problem then?
peepshow
You could replace it with a gen ETA7750 that is modified for the GMT complication, other than that.....
scoobs1971
On the rep A7750 the GMT module is placed on top of the calender module. Consequently the dial is sitting higher and further away from the DW, giving the look of a sunken DW. So adding a rep GMT module on a Swiss7750 won't change anything. Given this scenario, would you guys contemplate making a franken 89 with gen case, CG, crystal, dial and hands?

Hmmm, I can imagine this ain't gonna be cheap and you will still end up with the sunken DW and a too small magnification.

No, its not going to be cheap. I would have thought that the magnification would be alright with a gen crystal? Another route would be not to get the case. Just the changing of dial, hands and crystal.
scoobs1971
...I would have thought that the magnification would be alright with a gen crystal? ... My belief is that the magnification will be less, because the DW is sitting lower and further away from the cyclops than in the gen.
cib0rgman
Could this be fix using DW overlay and glue into some kind of spacer to raise the up close to the dial?
dluddy
With a Lello datewheel, I don't find the datewheel is an issue with my 089? Now on a Chrono with a 7750 instead of a 7753 it is much more noticeable and a bigger (sunken datewheel) issue
ar0401
Absolutely agree, Lello's DWl makes all the difference, so sunken DW is not an issue. And dluddy, the only thing to add to your overall beautiful watch is the titanium T48 crown. 7750 stems with 1.2mm tap can be bought here http://cgi.ebay.com/STEMS-25-Calibers-avai...1742.m153.l1262

Lately I've been holding several PAM88 gens in my hand and the date magnification was way bigger than on my DSN 88 (DW almost similar to a Lello DW). But then again I'm very anal.... Does it need any adapter?
