SMS Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Hi All, I have a nice vintage Rolex Oyster. It has the nice riveted 19mm band that stretches. I think its called the Americana band. My question is is there any one who can fix the 2 broken springs in the band and refurbish it? I would also like to have the watch serviced. Can you guys recommend a reasonable and trusty person? Thanks in advance, Bill
Shundi Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Bill, Where are you located? I take it Cali/West Coast CONUS? Maybe some of our members could chime in...
SMS Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 Hi, I am in Minneapolis MN. Do you know the band I am talking about? Bill
Nanuq Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Hi Bill, and welcome! That's a vintage riveted/expanding oyster bracelet, the infamous hair grabber. It's definitely worth repairing. I don't know if any modders here have done that kind of bracelet work; you can search them out and ask. Barring that, I know a couple of very good Rolex watchmakers in the Seattle area that might be happy to take it on. Cheers!
krustybrand Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 http://www.classicwatchparts.com/watch/ind...s/services.html They did a beautiful job about 2 years ago on a gen folded Oyster bracelet of mine.

SMS Posted April 8, 2009 Author Report Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) Has any one used these guys for parts and service? http://www.paloaltomicro.com/rolex.htm Here are some pics of the watch. Bill Edited April 8, 2009 by SMS
freddy333 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Paloalto sells very overpriced gen parts (mostly used). Again, I would check with Stan (see link in previous post above).
