cwai02
I just received my Genuine PO. I got it for about $1400 on ebay. FYI: The number on the case back cover is 168-1653, in case you need this number to order genuine parts. Comparison: Case: seems to be 1:1. At least I can't tell any difference. Bezel: A little thinner on the gen. Color is correct. The pearl looks better on the gen. Font is correct. HE Value: Correct. Teeth is shaper on the rep. Crown: The omega logo is larger on the rep. There is a circle outside the omega logo which is incorrect. Case back: More detail on the gen. The font of "Planet Ocean" engraving is smaller on the gen. The size of the caseback cover seems to be smaller on the gen. The engraving is deeper on the gen. Genuine PO has anti-magnetic cover which 4G doesn't. There is also a serial number on the case. Some pictures: Genuine Orange PO 42.5MM - with strap. Andrew's 4G Orange PO 42.5MM - with bracelet Andrew's 4G Black PO 42.5MM - with genuine SMP rubber strap After all, I don't suggest you to get the ultimate version. Stick with the original 4G which has more correct logo position imo. Old pictures: Edited April 26, 2006 by cwai02
sye46
great photos! Thank you for this post. You are true PO freak! haha..... now all you need is a gen black bezel :-)
Pugwash
As my brother, who bought a gen 45mm after getting a rep, told me, the most visible thing, especially when photographing, is the AR coating on the gen. Your photos show that too.
r11co
Those reps are scarily good. I'm still hangin' out for the 45mm tho.
Estaban
I'm with r11co. 45mm ETA, curved and engraved bracelet. I'll save my money until then, unless someone has a white face ETA EXPII they're looking to get rid of
rek001
I think the best combo is the orange bezel with the black rubber strap, congrats! Beautiful, distinctive watch
ubiquitous
Excellent comparison! And the 4th gens are incredibly close! Very nice! Just out of curiosity- Is the bezel/pearl that's on your orange 4th generation the one that originally came on it? The pearl and it's setting looks a bit different than the one on your black 4th gen...
V
Yeap.. I'm waiting for the 45mm version too...
gran
Great read thanks for sharing this with us cwai02 Is it still your opinion that the modified 4th gen PO from Andrew is "less" acurate than the ordinary 4th generation PO? How much is the difference in the minutes hand (or the other hands fpoor that matter) on the 4th generation compared to genuine PO (a littel difficult to see difference in the hands looking at the different pictures) Regards Gunnar
Quarks
Nice comparison!! The gen def. look sharper.. and I love those rubber straps!
ahchard
GREAT COMPARISON!!! I agree with the AR coating... from the pictures you can really tell... the gen has almost no reflection... whereas on the reps the dial looks like a lighter black colour which I think is caused by the reflection...
