rosnik
I received it two days ago, by FedEx , after 32 long days of delivery time. I replaced the delivered insert with Gen one ( not for necessity, but because I got one around ). The bud thing of this WM9 is (BMW) the bracelet ; if I get in paragon it, with the high quality of the watch, the bracelet is really poor and not 1:1 made. It appare to be the same low quality bracelet delivered with SSD. The good thinks instead are: the Z-16610 it's really 1:1, the glass retainer is exactly like Gen, The rotating bezel and the rotating bazel system is like Gen, the case is like Gen but accept 2836-2; this WM9 SUB accept Gen crystal, It accept Gen Insert too, it has big crown tube lke Gen, and the Case back is interchangeable with Gen one. I hope you'll enjoy my low quality pictures. cheers! Nico that's the delivered insert , but I get Gen one.
w.genzo
Thanks for the nice photos, very informative.. Good to hear that a gen crystal could fit, watcher has also confirmed it to me. Do you think that a gen bracelet would fit? I guess we will have to use the noob parts again.
steppen
so thats it then, this is the perfect sub, its high price negated by the fact that, to bring an mbw to this level of modding would cost the same amount or more? or...? steppen
I'm modding one MBW to this level. I'm spending quite double. If you like I can post some pictures about................... sounds good, you're doing the mods yourself? brave man subs were never really my thing, but when you have the mbw finished it will surpass the wm9 or each will have their merits and demerits? Tribal
Thats a damm nice Submariner and it will beats the MBK in my opinion... When it's really accept a Gen Crystal thats fantastic.... Also the Bezel construction looks like Gen to me... Do you must shape the Gen Insert or will it fit with no modification...? I think Tube and Crown will be the same than on the SSD... Hope the other Dealers will have access to this nice watch.... But I stated in an other Thread a new MBW Submariner is in the piipeline.... I will post News when they are done........... By-Tor
Congrats for this amazing Sub rosnik! You can never mod the MBW into this level, imho. This version has perfect crystal/rehaut merging. It's quite easy to spot from the TW and MBW. This is the only 16610 that really looks like the gen to me. I'm certain that nobody would ever spot the low crown position, unless the watches are side by side. The pearl looks like utter shite though... and the Noob dial is better. PS: This is not gospel, but just my 2 cents.
rosnik
@ Tribal: No I do not shape the gen insert, it fit perfectly but I glued one bit for safety. @By-tor : I'm in accord with you. It's impossible to update MBW to that point because the Crystal retaining system in MBW is only on pressure. Here, to get you idea I get some pictures of my working progress MBW modding: Gen Crown Gen TUBE Gen Retaining bezel Ring Gen Bezel ring Gen insert Ps: To get the gen. retaining bazrl ring I get on a lathe the case to leave out the edge around the glass support . I then added space to the retaining bezel ring to fit on MBW case and glued it in place with the gen spring . Wile all this work can not reach BMW the WM9 quality one! In WM9 the retaining bezel ring, it'is really working to take the crystal in the correct and sealed position, and under the retaining ring, on the WM9, like in Gen, is located one BIG o-ring too. That's the starting MBW case: Gen tube and Gen crown: Retaining ring in position with the 'Clic' spring. That's the case finished. I have not get the novement jet becouse I'm waiting for one Noob dial. To see: the perfect crystal/rehaut merging The bud thing for all this two watches is that the position of the steam is always not correct! They use 2836-2 movement. I think that to solve it, we have to pass to the 2892 or....................... to get Gen 3135.
bklm1234
it's no doubt it has the best case. but like by-tor said the dial is not as good as the F520117's (aka noob's). Neither is the date font. The biggest problem I have with it (besides the high price which I think will eventually come down) is the bezel. Thanks rosnik for your clear pictures. It confirms that the bezel teeth are too slanted and look short. Good thing this sub has a gen bezel construction. I can get a gen bezel to put on it. But I can't justify the cost, given the watch is $655, a gen bezel is easily $300 or move. That's why I'm not pulling the trigger. I think my old-case MBW has much better bezel teeth. Here're a couple pics of it next to a gen: -bk
rosnik
Are 3 days long that I'm using my MW9 . I can tell you that I was kindly impressed by the GEN feeling that this REp can get to the user. To get one example: Rotating the bezel the "Click Click" is like gen , nothing to get in paragon to the "ClanG ClanG" that my MBW did out of the box . Screwing the crown, it's gently braked by the big o-rings that get their works, that's like in my Gens. Just to get you one paragon, when I received the MBW (out of the box), I used it 5 minutes ...............and I decided to mod it. This one, after 3 days, I feel it like "my Rep watch". I'm in accord with you guys that some particular have to be inproved in this WM9 too, but jet out of the box it's really good.

The points you make are all accurate and I agree with your observations 100% Especially your point that this watch "feels" most like Gen. Pictures can not describe this quality that the other Rep subs do not have...
