  2. First TJ if I have failed to reply it would have been for non related issues and not because of any sense that I would be wasting my time, so I apologise for letting you slip through he cracks like that. But more to your question I should point out that all the dealers on these boards sell soft goods, the only difference between me and the other guys is that I don't sell watches. I can get most of these gym shoes but they fall into the grey area (quality) that I am simply not comfortable with, I can also get most goods in generic branding but they require a buy of X amount and not single items, they also tend to be the same prices are the replica's. It absolutely amazes me when people take offence to me defending my business, imagine if the OP had said he was looking for cheap watches because the Trusted Dealers "Were just too expensive" or this other guy was to pop up and say 'Replica watches, talk about pissing you're money away". They would have been tarred and feathered but not so when aimed at my trade....because the vast majority of members simply do not know...so yes I do have to make a defense because these people, even if it is inadvertently, do damage my business. Imagine you work for a Ford dealership and someone walked in and started telling all the other customers that Fords were 1) To expensive 2) Shit, how long do you think they would last before the police were called in? I don't have a problem with constructive criticisms but I do have a problem when people pull their facts from their backsides. Ken

  7. Go in to a pawn shop, find a model you like and ask them if they have any problem with your taking it into an AD to appraise and verify it as being authentic. Leave your credit card with them as collateral. Take it home, pop off the bezel and then take it into an AD for a replacement, explaining you had an accident that pulled the bezel off. (many AD's have bezels, crystals and insert in stock and will install them for you.) Go back home, swap out the bezels and then go back to the seller and give a reason why you're going to hold off on the purchase for now. (maybe the wife said "no".) Or maybe then pull the crystal, take it in to a different AD and go through the motions again. It'll likely eat an entire day and require some planning ahead but your efforts could net you the Brand New parts you're after at a fraction of the cost you'll pay for the used ones on the gray market If you can even find used parts of what you're after. .............just a thought Another thought would be to buy a gen, pull the parts you're after and sell the rest parted out. (many still aren't convinced that's it's next to impossible to build a gen for less than you can buy one outright...and there's always someone looking for this and that.) (this will take longer and initially cost more but it can be done.....and that's the thrill of the hobby for many of us...the thrill of the hunt and the acquisition. What's fun about buying a gen just to wear?)

  9. I have never dealt with Ken and I have never knowingly purchased rep soft goods. But he is 100% correct. This is his business. As he said, imagine the uproar if someone said that BK's watches were a waste and way overpriced! You work hard to establish a good REPutation and if that commands a premium, so be it. Best of luck to everyone in finding what they look for. I will personally consider KB when I do decide to make a purchase. Why? Because of the reviews. That's what the forum is about, sharing our personal experiences.

  12. Don't let me stop you its just that everytime i like one of these watches- Christopher Ward has a limited edition jump hour at around 1k which looks sweet - i go back and look at the reps and these and the rep tends to win. There is a Hamilton Pilots for 400 i've looked at, steinhart has a nice jump hour for like 100%$ But, its the eye of the beholder - there are tons of people here that go nuts over a particular watch that i probably wouldn't pick up on the sidewalk if it were sitting there - and I'm sure there are many who might think the same of pieces I like. it is what it is. - Enjoy. 1 Piece of advice you might think about is, checking the resale value - what do they sell for on ebay or other watch forums. If you get it and decide its not for you, can you return it? amazon.com has 60day mandatory return policy for all vendors. Or can you sell it and get something else.
