  5. I hear ya, a Big Crown is next on my list to be checked off. There's just "something" about that big 8mm Brevet. The question remains, should it be a gilt 7924 or 6538? Sadly, it will have to be a franken, no way can I shell out what some gens have been going for! Something like this...

  6. I can make a display back for almost any watch, but hey I'm in Europe. Still, if I can do it, any watchmaker with a lathe and some good dies (or threading capacity) can do it. The glass/sapphire can be either friction fit or installed with its own gasket, which is a pretty cool solution if you ask me. Post on a local forum and see what responses you get. It just takes a few hours in most cases (no pun intended!) Of course, if you have a gen case, the whole display back should be made from scratch from a piece of stainless stock. If it's a rep, then there's no harm in modifying your existing back, and it goes even faster. Jimbo

  8. Well said. I'm with you, anything newer than "domed plexiglas" just doesn't do it for me. Here's my favorite, it was scarred to heck from 30+ years of hard use commercial diving and instructing, then Larry tore his foot off in an accident so his diving days were over. At his funeral his wife handed it to me, she said he wanted me to have it. I've got 1,000 hours commercial diving too, so we were comrades but my time was nothing like his. Anyway, this is how I received it, and the condition it's in now. Rest in peace, Larry.

  10. Looks great. And just imagine how old this replica model is... and still one of the best. That reminds me... I had this "underwater" shot of this very model.

  11. For luming, the best paint I've used so far is NightColor by Revell, and as 'the tool', I took one of the nylon threads which are used to attach labels to clothes, and fixed it to the blunt end of a triangular paintbrush I found a spare rep dial this evening and stripped the paint from it, so will be putting my plan into action tomorrow if the weather's okay The issues I'm having, are not only is my pc not working, but my iPhone is now experiencing the camera/insufficient memory glitch which I've read is quite common, so even if I was to use my regular camera, I don't have access to a pc to load the photos up
