  1. Hi, So it’s time to start a music thread! Any heavy metal fans here? I bought by first ACDC LP with 9, then moved on to Alice Cooper, then ACCEPT, then Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Ozzy, Bolt Thrower. Of course also Black Sabbath, Danzig, Marilyn Manson, Motörhead, Pro-Pain, Rage Against The Machine. Even took my wife to Rammstein and DOWN, SLIPKNOT, Machinehead… was good, at least I thought so! Dutchy P.S. And of course Maiden and Megadeth!

  2. Save yourself 300 $! This work can be done within a hour and will cost you less than 20 $! Ok AP freaks here's the thing. I allready mentioned an idea I had about (re)spraypainting my upcoming AP Montauk Highway strap. We all know that the REP AP factory strap sucks BIGTIME! It's such a shame while the AP watches are spot on, the straps are crap. It's a big tell from a distance as we all know. Maybe I have a (low budget) solution for those who do not have the $$$ for the real deal or a strap from AP bands at the moment. they are over $ 340 ,-. I guess eventually I will buy the GEN or AP bands strap but this will do it till then. Just fot the record it is just a short term (low budget) solution for me and IMO the end result is better looking compared to the onmodded REP strap out of the box. HERE WE GO NERDS!! (let the pics speak for themselves) * What we need: Still waiting for my AP with the brown strap to come but had a REP crappy black hornback in my drawer from an earlier purchase....so just took my change, offcourse same can be done with the brown strap. * First we remove the stitches ( I need blue ones in the end as we know) (I had to study the stitching, never (re) stitched a strap before so took a good look how it's done while removing) * OK, now we clean the strap with special leather cleaner (as you can see, after cleaning you allready loose the shiny REP look, for those who wants to stick to a black strap you're task is allready done, it looks like GEN gator now allready) * Once we have done that, it's time to repaint it with a (darker) brown colour, to get closer to the real deal. * After repainting (spray) I cleaned it again to loose the new shiney brown look. * Now we restitch the fu**er. (Try to find the right colour stitching in a local shop) END RESULT PICS (still need to stitch the short side but couldn't wait to write this turorial) (BEFORE) (AFTER) (Final one (crappy) shot from the GEN montauk strap, for comparing) DAYTIME END RESULT, IT'S STAYS REP BUT I THINK IT'S AN IMPROVEMENT. Tell me what you think guys....

  6. I have not been able to read this post for awhile, as the subject is painful. I want to express to HauteHippie, how deeply sorry I am for your Mom;s passing and your Dad's decline in health. Life is a precious gift, which we often take for granted. The kind words and cameraderie of the members here is overwhelming. Really. This forum has many very fine people. Now....Good News..The doctors told me my Dad had a 1% chance of ever walking out of a hospital. I flew to Denver weeks ago to see him after a 7 hour operation. He looked so small and nearly dead.I returned to Las Vegas in agony to keep working, as life goes on, and Dad got better day by day. He was transferred back to the nursing home in Morrison, Colorado, where his feeding tube was removed, and now walks around with a cane. He is doing ok for an 80 year old fellow. I have been to Denver so mny times that my employer wont allow more time off, so Dad will fly here first class next week to live with me in my 4 bedroom home with 4 dogs. I am thankful to God for giving my Father the strength to recover from what would have killed most people. My Grand Aunt Lea lived to be 104 years. We are a family of Finlanders, who have good genes, but some of us, myself included, drink to damn much. My Great Grandfather died in a sauna, his last words were that he wanted a beer. Ha! God Bless all of you here at RWG. I am proud to be included in a place with so many fine souls. Thank you all for your support and prayers. They worked!

  8. "I love how they pan aftermarket (Clark) crystals. I have never had a WR issue, quality, or fit issue with a Clark or Sternkruz." Me neither. I bet many of these guys bought aftmkt crystals in 'rolex' packages and paid a LOT of $$ never knowing the difference. Same guys probably have a 1520/1570/75 with aftmkt stem, winding rotor axle, mainspring, center wheel, fourth wheel, CP, intermediate wheel (in autowind assembly), aftmkt case tube, gaskets etc...carefully cleaned with Ronson's and oiled with 3 in 1. ...and they all wonder why their rolex smells like a Zippo lighter. No one even cared about this until the internet started making 'experts' out of all these fools. I started seeing them in droves at watch shows about 15 years ago...1000 questions, no answers, and not a clue. "If it is not Rolex it must be junk, right?" Dat's wat ah reed on da internut. Imho todays 'Macho Watcho' is a G Shock, not a fragile, pricey, $lickdick rolex. Hee Haw! Btw, I've had good luck with GS crystals for years. ...but I'm still not goofy enough (yet) to jump in the water wearing a $5k "no parts for you!" wristwatch.

  9. there IS a lot of variation. my advice is go find a gen to inspect in person, seeing youre in the UK that shouldnt be too hard. the ones i was looking at in hong kong seemed to be sharp looking at the end almost claw shaped.

  10. Super comparison and thank you for taking the time to take pictures showing the subtle differences! I must say that BK Datewheel is outstanding!

  11. Small flat edged file used here as well. It's a slow process, but I feel it's better to take off a little at a time, vs. taking off too much material too fast. Once metal is gone, it's not so easy to put back
