  1. Hey gang, Long time since I’ve been on the forum; hope all is well with everyone and things are good. Wanted to share this little story of luck, as there is some watch relevance involved and who better to share with than my pals here? Picked up this little porcelain figure at a recent estate sale for my daughter; it’s a little piggy bank painted like a dog. She saw it and immediately thought of our own little doggy, a 12lb Yorkie that coincidentally thinks she’s a pig We paid a small price for the little piggy and got it home where I started prepping it to put in my daughter’s room for piggy bank use. It was packed/stuffed with tissue paper and when I removed all the tissue, this fell out: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Ha… Only kidding. I *wish* I were that lucky! No, no… Rather, this is just my latest build that I’ve been working on; a 1940’s era steel PPCo As with most of my builds, this one started with a genuine dial with original hard enamel fonts/printings still in tact and in great shape considering (remember, these watches from this time period were not water or element resistant; considering it’s 70-ish years old or so, it’s got some aging, but all very subtle in the overall picture) I managed to pick this dial up for stupid cheap… Less than $100: And shortly thereafter I happened upon the correct 12’’’120 movement to go with it: From there I had the dimensions of the movement measured and a custom case fabricated. Got the case back the other day and got everything together… To finish off, I added a gen Patek gator strap with period correct gen Patek buckle. Has the appearance and feel of being a much larger watch than it's 36mm size might otherwise suggest: Okay, so while I wasn’t lucky enough to happen upon this gem in such a fortunate manner, I do feel fortunate to have managed to see this one through to where it is now Thanks for looking! //ubi

  2. I suppose that's a way of putting it, forum etiquette. At any rate one of the fairly new members proudly posted his rep Rolex 1016 over on the Rolex Forum. i'm sure he wasn't aware of the consequences, but it took about 10 posts before someone over there, who is probably a regular over here as well, wised up, called him out and now he's banned over there. That in itself isn't the end of the world, but what he did, posting on both forums with the same name, really brings unneeded attention to RWG. It probably took the Rolex Forum member about 30 seconds to do a member search here, and bingo! his name came up, he goers to his posts, finds the topic and links it back to TRF, so all the members there can see the RWG post, same pictures, same watch, etc. So, since we have a pretty big turnover of folks, and lots of new members, maybe it's time to go back through the" rules of the road" so to speak. I have seen a whole lot of noobs posting lately, which i think is wonderful, but they need to know what is what. So here are the simple rules (Advice), that will keep you out of trouble. 1. Not a good idea to use the same "handle" on the rep sites that you use on genuine. accio used the same name, probably took the guy on the Rolex Forum about 30 seconds to do a member name search here and the other rep forums and sure 'nuf his name popped up. BUSTED!! 2. Never ever use a members real name, address, telephone number, or email on the open forum. If you want to use names, etc. only use them in PM's and emails to that individual. There are quite a few folks here that also frequent genuine watch forums, not just Rolex but many, many other forums. Most of the folks who frequent the genuine forums, especially those who are on the "big name watch" forums are very, very intolerant. They hate reps, the people who wear reps, and everything there is to do with reps. They will ban someone in a second if they find out they are rep forum particiapants. So for the sake of the other members on the forum, be careful and play by the rules.

  3. There aren't any accurate reps of the 7 Days. Subdial spacing is way off and the date is sunken. They are beautiful watches in their own right, just not accurate reps. Especially the gray dial. http://www.puretime.co/product/portuguese-automatic-ss-grey-dial/

  4. Haven't seen one either. I always assumed it is because it wasn't that popular in gen form and the clear caseback makes it much less appealing than the Big Pilot with the closed caseback. IMHO go for the big pilot....I know they are very different but at least you can plausibly pretend there is a 7 or 8 day movement.

  5. @cougar1 - completely agree. Michael Kors is the perfect example. I love Hamiltons, great watch and great American history.

  7. That is with out a doubt the most pathetic comment I have ever read here...easily. Most members here.. I would suspect...wear some kind of cologne at some time or another. If we are to take your comment seriously...then those members have poor hygiene. Un[censored]in believable. I dont understand why people who dont care for a topic..for whatever reason...just dont stay out of It. Thats what I do..It's really not that hard...It really Isn't. Instead these folks crap all over someones thread...for there own selfish/self centered reasons. Talk about poor form. Im personally very offended by your comment...as Im sure others will be as well. Not that you give a [censored] about those kinds of things. If I ever made a comment like that I would hope to be very ashamed of myself. Atm my three go to scents are.. (1) D&G The One. (2) Thierry Mugler.. Angel Men (3) Prada Amber. Mike

  8. What's on your gen watch list? I guess that was the whole point of me going after a Rolex Explorer II after years of collecting Reps in the early days. Breitlings, Daytonas, Pateks, etc were all very inaccurate, back in the mid 90's. Today: WOW! And so last year I bought a Gen Breitling B1. With a pretty confident idea that they won't ever get the quartz display correct So anyways, I have the love of both Reps and Gens but I do want to ensure that my next gen purchase is never replicated to perfection. I am pretty safe that the PAM233 will never be copied, but again that is a step up from being affordable! Can anyone think of the watches in the sub $6,000 range that is safe from being copied? I'm kind of pondering getting a gen BALL or a Glashutte Navigator for my 2007 annual purchase. Regards. My list: 1 A German watch 2 A tobacco/brown dial watch 3 An affordable Minute repeater (excludes the Campanola, unless they work out some bugs on it) 4 A special edition Panerai 5 Tag Monaco 69
