  7. Okay so this is where I step in and sort it all out with the perfect solution... In all future sales I believe the only sure way you buyers and sellers get scammmed ..sorry I mean dont get scammed is to send all watches and payments to me...I will take it upon myslf to spend all your money..I mean hold all your money until the watches arrive which I will then wear, strip for parts, give to friends...sorry I meant assess.... and will then pass them onto the buyers using a crappy postal system and bogus tracking numbers...sorry I meant ensure safe and trackable shipping That way I am very happy and surrounded by hookers and alcohol...sorry I meant everyone will be happy and there is no way anyone will ever get scammed !! I Thank you !!

  8. I was a paying member. I even Donated when the site had some troubles a couple of months ago. I would like to be a paying member again but I have only 1 VISA card and every time Payza tries to withdraw funds for it it gets declined. Ive sold a watch on this forum, bought a watch from a well known member and am even having one serviced by anther well known member. So far nobody has left me any feedback yet. The only issue I see with post counts is that it might be easy to rack up a lot of posts, just replying to the intro forms and the general discussion forms with one or two word replies. Does that really make someone trustworthy? What about a member like myself? Ive conducted a couple of transactions here, I want to upgrade, but can't and I'm the type of person who will only chime in on a conversation if I feel I have something to add. Given the scenario that's being proposed I wouldn't be able to post in the sales forum for a while. Just a observation really. What are your thoughts?

  9. The Abyss has 3 seals. 2 in the crown tube and one in the crown itself. If you cut the stem just the right length you will have absolutely no problems with WR. The seals are very thick and tight.

  10. Parts are almost impossible to source. It's a weak point of this model. I shortened the stem and it remained WP. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/147390-breitling-abyss-sufferig-from-weak-crowns/?hl=%2Bstripped

  11. Description from wyler However, a special compartment in the luxury watch box, finished in shrunk leather, contains a special Dakar strap in the same leather, embossed with the cheich logo and Dakar inscription. The compartment also includes the screwdriver for opening the inner case back to change the strap and two Allen keys for removing the foldover clasp, as well as a USB stick with video instructions on how to change the strap. This not only gives the owner a choice of two totally different looks, it also allows them to see first-hand one example of the robustness of the watch, since the strap is fixed directly to the case with screws that pass through the upper and lower tantalum plates. Looks like you need a tiny tork screwdriver as the band seems to be removed by removing the really small screws on the backplate..

  12. I have been on quite a few forums where you don't have access (to sell) until you get the requisite number of posts. Another possibility, is to use a similar setup like the Vintage Rolex Market. The Vintage Rolex Forum requires you to have a number of contributory posts before you are considered a VRF Member. Until you are a member, your sales posts are moderated, and they do not go up until they are passed by one of the mods. If anything is dodgy, or incomplete, like a return policy, the post isn't allowed until it's fixed. If not they just nuke it!! Not sure how this would work, but it is very useful. maybe not as a requirement, but "strongly suggested" If you need more communication, PM or email the seller and ask for his phone number, or his skype handle. Cal him up and talk about the watch.shipping, payment, return policy, expectations of each other etc. I'm pretty old school, i would rather talk to someone about something rather than sit at my computer and hammer out email after email. Lots of timexs over the phone, folks are a little more "Real" and sometimes a little easier to read.I prettuy much will not buy a higher end watch from a unknown seller without talking about the deal.

  13. Maven not worried about thoughtful guys like you and I agree communication is key. I have dealt with some long time guys here short and to the point , dismissive. OK, busy well ain't we all. You want to be a member take minute or two and talk , better outcomes all around!

  14. Well some have weighed in not as many as I hoped by a long shot. If this was about politics, guns or broads we would have a running argument 8 pages of posts and Ken would have to shut it down. But to come up with a consensus on how to get past the difficulties we are having ,not so much.

  16. There's no right way to deal with the sales threads atm until Paypal or something very similar is up and running so that members can easily upgrade and pay their subs in, I'm damn sure that admin are trying their very best to sort this out, after all it's them that are losing money here not the membership. I agree with any business that runs itself for it's honest clientele, you will always have an element of scammers etc but generally they don't last long here and they don't cause too much grief for the membership as a whole as they are outed fairly quickly, that said when a noob member gets fucked over it gets my gut going, older members should really know better than do a deal with someone who is offering something that is to good to be true and I consider myself a noob too! As for ways to solve the dodgy sales etc, a couple that have been tossed around that I think made sense For members that were Platinum/ViP before the PP issues came up and only yearly subs members, reinstate them as such until they can sort out Payza payment, give them 3 mth grace. Minimum post counts, I think if we had a count of say 10 before a noob can even view the trade sections and 100 before they can sell anything, unless of course they Pay to upgrade via Payza. These couple of measures I think would help, but in all honesty you still won't stop all the scammers, they are motivated by one thing and that is parting you from your hard earned for bugger all in return Tread your own path............. Edit: To add that when I first joined I did so because I loved the place, great people abound with a wealth of knowledge of horology that is hard to beat, I was not in it to buy a watch from the forum but to gather the knowledge I needed to buy a decent rep watch, which incidently led me to buy a Gen instead (to many dodgy reps!) but my point is that my first purchase was from a Trusted Dealer....not from the boards

  17. maybe we should take a vote?? who was the idiot dufus pretending to sport a gen on a gen forum and got shafted there and here?

  18. If it is a no date explorer you might go to an eta 2824 or 2836 with aft/mkt hands. You can remove the dial feet and cement the dial to the calendar spacer ring to adapt the DG dial to the eta. If this is the way you go, you will need to use case clamps and screws with a precision movement spacer to hold the movement in place to keep the dial/calendar ring from moving around on the movement. In order to use case clamps and screws...you will need a case with a clamp groove machined in it. If there is no groove, you can cut two short grooves inside the case with a cut-off wheel in a Dremel tool being careful not to let the wheel or screw in the arbor get against the crystal (drop a coin, plastic disc etc in the case to protect the crystal). Be sure to cut the grooves in the correct spots and do not get into the threads in the case. The 2836 is a little taller from the stem centerline to the dial than the 2824 depending on what you need for the stem to be centered in the case tube. The crown will fit the DG and eta stems...tap 10. Tap 10 = .9mm.
