  1. Ordered the last parts for my UPO today. A gen bracelet clasp and gen bezel, plus a couple of parts and some spare bezel wire springs. Just shy of £400 for that little lot. Once these are fitted the only non-gen parts will be the case, case back, SELs, bracelet links and the HE valve. The movement isn't a gen 2500, but it is a very nice TC 2824 which i'm more than happy with. The clasp will go right on, but the gen bezel will only go on once I finish making the adapter ring that clips inside the gen bezel making it the same inner diameter as the rep bezels. I'm planning on using two bezel wire springs, one gen and one rep, but it's going to be extremely tight for space on the adapter ring. It's 1.8mm from outer to inner surface and I've got to cut two narrow retaining channels in that 1.8mm for both retaining wire springs. Hopefully 0.5mm will be deep enough, leaving 0.8mm. I have a decent length chunk of material to make them from as it'll probably take a few goes to get it right, and the extra bits and pieces and tools I've bought to do this on the lathe will mean I could have been most of the way to the price of a gen, but this is a lot more fun

  2. A couple of years ago I built a 16660 using jackjo's ssd as the base and it was my favorite. LINK Then I had some sort of major malfunction and sold it. Please don't ask me why... Some time passed and I just couldn't get over the loss. I sent an email to the person who bought it off the person I sold it to. To my surprise he agreed to sell her back to me! I was so happy. I ordered a new BpSD after reading so many good things about it with plans to swap the case set if it were indeed that good. The main thing I liked was the crystal, which has no lec. I also ordered TC's 93160A to replace the (from what I'd been reading) poor Bp bracelet. Then I decided to go NOS vintage look. This decision came from the purchase of a NOS 16660 insert. The gen insert I had was pretty beat up, cracked pearl and all. At the time I loved this look. But as I age so do my taste buds and my taste in watches. I loved the new insert I picked up. The tritium pearl was a warm patina yet it had never been mounted and was sitting in its packaging begging to be installed. I actually didn't mind that it cost more than the BpSD! The triple 6 arrived and shortly after the BpSD came too. I immediately saw that the Bp case set was superior so I sent both watches over to my main man Pbdad. Today it came back and I am one happy mofackle. Enjoy the few quick iphone pics. outside today is cloudy with a chance of 666.. indoors Specs: BpSD case set TC 93160A bracelet Natalie's Passion (NDT) 16660 matte dial Gen insert Gen crown/tube Pbdad's work: Drill lug holes Re-lume dial/hands (done during the first build) Install insert (Said it snapped right in without shaving) Install tube

  7. Agreed with wild05kid05 about every thing and I might want to add Bien Nho in Saigon it has the best seafood and Bach Dang dinner boat ride with food and entertainment. I was there with my wife and kid last year for 3 1/2 weeks and enjoyed every minutes of it. I do not hunt for any rep I figured our TD has the best already so why bother. Enjoy the Vietnamese hospitality because we are the best. It is hot hot hot.

  14. Forget the reps, they 50-150$ junks, similar to Canal St. There are a lot of places to dine at (some local some restaurant): Cuc Gach (southern), Ngu Binh or Mi Tau (best central VN food), Cha Ca La Vong, Ben Thanh Market (day or night for a fun experience), Thien Nam; Bun Rieu Nguyen Canh Chan, Hu Tiu Ca Nam Loi, etc. In Nha Trang, stay at Sheraton if you prefer an active trip (it's by the shore and close to everywhere). In town, try Nem Nuong, Bo Lac Canh, seafood restaurant by the cliff (I forgot the name..). Visit Sailing Club at night, it's like a beach bar. If you prefer relax trip, go to the island resort (Vin Pearl or Six Sense-top notch). Otherwise, visit Da Nang & Hoi An instead.

  15. Hello youngN. Can always be difficult when you are making a 1st purchase on a particular rep watch. Pure time sells the santos ultimates, prices on these models in particular have a crazy price range and can all get confusing. Gen movt, Swiss eta etc etc. check out this link below. I'd go for something like this. An ultimate with an Asian eta you never know if your get a Swiss movt anyway. And if u get lucky. They generally are old eta's that need a lot of work. This Asian eta is dressed with a Cartier engraved bridge etc. I've had a gen santos and one from angus (pureti me) and it is a good rep. Epically for 300 odd dollars. I can also say that he is a good dealer and comes though with his products. This watch + service + gen strap = a excellent santos. Hope this helps and gives reassurance. One last thing. Be patient ! http://pureti.me/product/santos-100-ss-ultimate-edition-white-dial-on-black-leather-strap-a2824/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
