A few days ago the new Navitimer 01 from Puretime arrived, so I want to share my first impressions of my new babe… Specs (from Purtime website): Size: 43mm x 14mm Movement: Asian 7750 chronograph automatic movement Functions: Hours, minutes, sub-seconds, date and chronograph Case: Solid 316L stainless steel case Crystal: Scratch-proof sapphire crystal with AR coating Dial: Black dial Bezel: Bi-directional rotating bezel Strap: Stainless steel bracelet Clasp: Flip lock clasp Water resistance: Yes Movement: unfortunatley it’s 21.600 vph (gen and former model: 28.800 vph). The sweep of the running secs could be a tad smoother, but I don’t think anyone can spot these from an arm distance away… The rotor is a bit noisy (as nearly always on the A7750), but it keeps good time, about +5 to +10 sec/day. The manual winding is a little stiff, so maybe the movement is a bit on the dry side and needs a proper lubrication - only a guess, I’m no watchsmith. Bezel: It is tight and finally the slide rule is aligning! Great!!! But… still it’s not real/pure/snow-white, it´s still a little off-white. Bezel teeth are nicely done, but I don’t have a gen to compare. Crystal: very clear with good AR (blue to purple hue). Great improvement compared to the predecessor! Dial: well done, really well done! The hands and stick hour markers are sparkling in the light, very gen-like. :) But… the subdials are still a bit too close to the tachy-ring, but that’s imho a minor flaw. Date window is nicely cut with a good bevel. Date Wheel: Still sunken date – no surprise, this can not be resolved with an A7750 movement. Finally black with white numbers (so the “sunken date issue” is less noticable), and supposed to have the proper Breitling date font, but… I had bad luck (wasn’t quite sure from the QC-pics) and got one with the standard date font, but this should be an exception. Maybe Angus can help to solve this issue, will drop him a PM after CNY-holidays. Lume: definitely better than on the former model. Still no torch, but considering the small place where lume can be applied it’s really ok. Bracelet: hmmm, it’s… light. Very light. Feels similar to the bracelet of the former version, no improvement here. Visually, there is no complaint, just the feel… And of course you have to oil it for a smoother moving of the links, it was dry like a desert when I received her... Clasp: solid, with a nice “click” when you’re snapping down to close the clasp. Raised Breitling-logo outside, nice engravings inside. Overall: She feels solid (case, bezel, clasp) and is looking awesome (dial, hands, hour markers)! There are great improvements compared to her predecessor in several ways, but there are still flaws and imperfections. If you’re a fan of the legendary Navitimers and you can live with the flaws, just go get her! But if you’re looking for a so-called “Super-Rep” which is very close to gen in terms of accurcy then there are better options for you (like Seawolf v2, Superocean Abyss, Super Avenger...). Wristies: Pics gallery (outdoor natural lighting): Thanks for looking!1 point

The story so far: A couple of months ago I bough from my good friend and fellow member Legend (Alvin) his PB built Baron DSSD with the intention to make this a really unique piece. For those of you that know, the Baron was a small run of 10 watches, CG's removed and various refinishing of the cases and a Swiss movement, reminiscent of a Bespoke DSSD from a number of aftermarket modders with Rolex's blessing. Anyway, the brief was clear, give this baby the lume it deserved with nothing other than gen lume, fit a cyclops so that ridiculous tiny date can be seen in a true Sub fashion and waterproof her ready for some serious action. In the meantime I got a beautiful new DSSD with slide from BK to finish the whole thing off. The following photos are hot off the press from Kenny who is a genius at these builds/mods and I thank him greatly for his Artisan work, I hope you like them. Best regards AJ1 point

a quick phone pic. Loving this watch!! Read some of the negatives that some buyers have had (mostly on RG) - I had a couple of my own, but were an easy/quick/cheap fix Say what you will (and there are many naysayers about Angus), but what he's collaboratively put together with the 'Z-Factory' and some passionate Geeks is a remarkable timepiece for the money. I commend him for this and congratulate him for the revenue he's generated from it Possibly QC wasn't the greatest it could be from the 'factory', but that can be understood (not forgiven however) given the insatiable and relentless demand to get this out before CNY Mine had misaligned hands (easy fix) Mine had play in the bezel (dental floss 'fix') That's it, no other issues Bracelet is superb - finish and fit is exceptional. Will R&R lube it at some point perhaps, but after a short bath in washing-up liquid with some baby oil added, it probably doesn't need it Dial is sublime, lume is way better than average Will at some stage put a Swiss heart in it and get a relume and get the bezel a proper fix, but right now it'll take some [censored] effort to get it off my wrist In short - fence-sitters, get off your splintered arses and get into the Black Bay ASAP!!1 point

There are really only 2 things that would cause a caseback not to fit a particular case - either the threads are damaged/defective or they vary in their threading. In either case, unless you have access to the appropriate tap/die or a machine shop, I do not know of any way to correct this. So, unless there is a detail I am missing, returning to the seller is about your only option.1 point

A few people are pleasantly pleased with the TC insert, the pearl is quite nice from what I hear. Honestly the sky is the limit, or your wallet, these builds can have as much or as little gen parts as you want.1 point

Mine looks good as is but a gen crystal and crown are well just gen if you can get them.1 point

I've had several that bleach had no effect. The last one I did, I used a scotch brite pad softy on it before soaking and it seemed to help a little bit. I got the idea to try that from pmwf.1 point

Since RG is down and i am currently dealing heavily on Ebay i must say that the parts and movements i have bought on different forums has so far been in perfect order and reasonably priced while the "as new", "keeps perfect time" and "in good working order" parts i have bought off Ebay has required extensive and expensive servicing and repairing. The only luck i found on Ebay is that my watchmaking skills has increased - i can now clean, repair, oil and time movements and watches.1 point
