Putting down the tools now. I've held off getting a gen bracelet for my 5513 for quite some time and have lived with various leather and semi-franken bracelets using gen endlinks and 93150 clasp in combination with some aftermarket links. My goal first and foremost was comfort over period "correctness". If it's not comfortable to wear than what's the point right? Finally broke down a purchased a gen 7206 rivet bracelet with 67 stamp to match the case. While I had my doubts, I find it extremely comfortable and complements the lines of the sleek case. While at times it does feel a bit tuna can-ish, I really like the slim links. I still need to remove one link. Any advice from those that have performed this surgery would be appreciated. Thanks

Opti there is a little watch shop in Melbourne on the Russell street side of 120 Collins Street called 'Bob the Watchmaker' and he will work on reps, He is from Hong Kong and is a great guy and very rep friendly.

There is a very nice modded Hublot skeleton Tourby for sale in the M2M section here. Buy that one instead.

If You go the vintage route except for absolute fans nobody will know (unlike ceramic latest ones). Supermirrors has several with 21j movement around the $118 mark, all have tells with ft first or too large crowns etc. but except here on the forum I doubt anybody will know which these tells are as there are too many vintage models in general but only very few around in real life. If You are going to hand it over to someone nothing less than a TC will do.

It does, but it's sporadic. Sometimes it will go for several hours before it mis-aligns, and even then it's barely noticeable.

For Rolex, you're not getting that level out of the box. Period. You need to go to a modder like TC or BK, and they're going to charge you $500. Other brands like Panerai or Hublot, you can get something pretty good for around $300.

Funny I bought a gen Daytona back in 2003 and only kept less than 2 years. Did not really care for it that much, so I really had not looked at them much since. Now, I cannot seem to get this one off the wrist.

Frankens are the way to go- here's one with a gen white dial These were built around 2007-8 when you could get case and dials for $200 or so, put in a swiss eta and a few other parts and build a nice franken for $500 or so Now days it's more expensive, but you can still build these frankens if you're patient in looking for parts.

I think I actually have a couple of those dials in the parts-box! It's one of my favorites. You could always swap in a different dial and better DWO... Mine sez hi!

I have over 20 watches and not a single one has been modded in anyway. Yes like all the old timers I have acquired the eye enough to pick a lot of minor details. The thing for me is that I collect replica watches and everyone who knows me knows I collect replica watches and my big thing is how well these watches are made with no extra modification. Ken

Made a new strap for the Omega SM300 Master Co-Axial

Hi guys, I am rarely here anymore due to illness. I have decided to pre-occupy me from my pain. I have chose to purchase 2 new watches. Both AP Divers, 2 different divers. These both will arrive with asian 2824 movements I just purchased 2 fresh Swiss 2824 movements from Switzerland.. I am looking for a great nodder who can do the following. 1) Install the ETA Swiss Movements 2) AR Coat the Crystal and Cyclops 3) Relume the dial I will NOT use Vac for personal reasons and problems i have had with him in the past. I spoke to Vac yesterday and it took me 30 minutes to get him to commute to a certain time window. Then he started preaching religion and telling me I can stay alive, when the reality, my disease kills all. I have multiple myeloma. and its NOT CURABLE. Vac should not discuss religion when he doesn't even know my religion. On top of that, i know a lot of old timers here. And the all email me direct. i have been told by 3 members that they had to return watches to Vac because of problems. His AR Coating is superb, his lume work is some of the best, his watch making skills are actually not consistent and customers have had problems. I hear how he has a new watch maker. i would assume that the new watch guy is doing the servicing, That might be a plus. He worked on 2 of pans years ago, they went back twice and he could not get them right. So anyway yesterday i thought I would a Shot, this is a nice order for someone. AT first he would not give me a delivery date. His answer was, I will get it done as soon as possible. Well I know on the board who had watches at his place for 4 months, and some watches had to go back to re-service and fix the problem. So when I Vac that i heard form some senior members that he is getting returns, and I said with life timeline, I can not afford that. So what do you think he did? He said "DO NOT SEND YOUR WATCHES, FIND SOMEONE YOU CAN COUNT ON", and you know what...i am glad he did it because if I have movement problems and he keeps the watch 60 days plus 15 more days for re-dew. I do not have that kind of time in the short period of life that i have left. Then he went on to say..."Why are you playing with watches when you are so sick" If he would have been here i probably would have smacked him. Then he kept going on with his religious stuff, and he told me I was doing it wrong to spend alot of time in prayer. He said thats wrong, if you would believe, you would not die. Let me tell me stats on my disease. NO ONE HAS BEAT THIS DISEASE. IT IS INCURABLE, BUT OBVIOUSLY VAC IS UNEDUCATED AND HE SHOULD NOT BE TALKING TO CUSTOMERS TELLING HIM HOW THEY CAN LIVE. MAYBE HE SHOULD QUIT WORKING ON WATCHES AND OPEN UP HIS OWN CHURCH...ESCEPT I DO NOT WANT HIM OR ANYWAY TO SAY THE WAY I HAVE MY RELATIONSHIP IS WRONG. THIS IS PRETTY SICK STUFF. NOW I KNOW WHY HE DOESN'T TALK MUCH..ANYWAY, IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME WITH A MODDER FROM ANOTHER FORUM, THAT WOULD BE WELL APPRECIATED. THERE IS ALOT OF TALENT ON ALL THE FOURMS. MOST MEMBERS STAY WITHIN THEIR FORUM FOR MODS, WHICH IS GREAT BECAUSE WE NEED TO SUPPORT OUR MEMBERS WITH TALENT.
