  3. Just an idea I was toying with lately, thoughts would be great Any interest in a gen-spec vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms AquaLung? I realize Davidsen has a 'rep' of the vintage BP's (2nd watch I owned), but the accuracy is, well, pretty poor (dimensions are way off, incorrect movement, incorrect dial fonts/design, incorrect case back stamping fonts, etc). My mate has the complete watch, and I’m trying to convince him to let me borrow it so I would be able to do a proper gen-spec replication. What would be done: -Entire case and misc parts would be 3-D laser scanned (to 100microns). -I would invest in some macro gear to get high quality pictures of the case back engraving, dial, and insert. -Fabrication: After the vector artwork and CAD models are ready to go, I would be working with 4 different manufacturers to realize each part correctly. Essentially, this would be a completely custom project. Everything minus the period correct genuine AS1361 movement would have to be manufactured from the ground up. Price point I’m thinking would be around $2k (around 1/10th of the gen’s cost). Any interest?

  4. First, if you have not read this: http://www.rwg.cc/to...nds-6-movement/ -- Read it. I pulled this off the back burner, hell bent on: 1.) Freezing a Center Seconds, 3 & 9 Subdials, for what could be a reliable Center Seconds Daytona. (But non-working chrono, so appearance only) What I found, and it can be done.... CAUTION - Working on this movement requires a similar skill set to working on a 7750. The Auto-Winding assembly was never really meant to be disassembled on this otherwise 'disposable' movement. Pics to explain it all: I will keep you updated....

  5. The V72 build is usually more expensive- the movement alone typically costs $750-1000. The a 7750 also come with the 3/6/9 subdials which is like a 7753, and that's what you need. You can find them on ebay these days for $140-160.

  6. I've had one of these gen also. Was a great subtle dress watch. And looks great on a female! Life's a [censored], then you marry one!
