  3. There are a few watches that I like very much that I buy several versions of them. Rolex DSSD is one of them. My first one was a BK DSSD. Then I bought from Wathfreund the BK/Pbdad DSSD. I like it a lot so I bought a gen Mark 1 dial one. Then the Noob 2014 DSSD came out. I bought it to do a gen vs rep comparison. I find it close enough to the gen so I sold the gen and kept that. But the insert font color kept bothering me. So I sold the Noob 2014. Then I got the chance to buy a gen Dblue; I am buying it as a gift for my newborn son. I will keep it mint until he is 17. Having none DSSD in the collection to wear do bother me. So I bought another gen Mark 1 M series Black DSSD. But I made a mistake of sanding the bezel with a sandpaper and manage to scratch the ceramic insert. It bugged me a lot, I sold it and bought the Noob Dblue to do another gen vs rep comparison also to curb my urge to wear the gen Dblue. I think I have said too much, so here comes the pics: The gen Dblue: Comparison: Gen is on bracelet, rep is on RubberB Dial The gen has lighter blue color and more gradient compared to rep. Although I must say that the blue color on the rep looks more elegant. The one on the gen is a bit cartoonish. But the gradient in the gen gives more "ocean" feel. From blue to black. While the rep dial feels like you start at the middle of the ocean already. (if you get what i mean) BUT.... There is a HUGE difference about the dial that makes this rep is worse thatn the predecessor Black Noob DSSD. There is always a great debate regarding the latest rolex dials. Some say it is glossy, some say it is matte, while some say it is a satin dial. If you ever see the gen black DSSD, you will know it looks like. It looks glossy due to the crystal but on certain angle/lighting, it will turn satin. It isn't matte dial. It is matte but has a little shine to it. It is hard to describe, you have to see it to understand it. That brings me to Dblue dial. What dials that the gena nd rep Dblue has to offer? SURPRISE. The gen has glossy dial, but the rep has the matte dial effect that most of us vintage rolex lover usually do. Put a matte varnish over a glossy dial. It looks "aged". This makes the dial easily recognizable as a rep dial. PEARL & INSERT Pearl on the rep insert looks bigger. and the rim is nicer and more prominent on the gen. I don't scrutinize to font details on insert since I don't think normal people will take notice on different font shapes. But the color is still the same. Too white on the rep. Hopefully the v2 will make the rep insert looks closer to gen. Although I seriously doubt it. CASING AND CASEBACK More or less like the Noob Black DSSD case. It is excellent. BRACELET AND CLASP The rep bracelet is excellent. I would say it is very close to gen. I forgot to take a picture of the SEL fitment. The shape of the SEL on the Noob DSSD Black dial is diffferent from gen. The gen is more protruding. I suppose this one also has the same difference. Some parting shots: In conclusion: The color on the dial is different but the rep one is actually nicer. My biggest regret is that the rep dial has "aging matte" finish to it. If only it has a glossy dial all the time, I would love to have it in my collection. So I am back to ordering a Noob DSSD Black dial v2. Anyway, it is still a great looking watch. And the gradient color is more fun to look at compared to the original black one. But if you want a watch that is closer to the gen, then the Black dial is the route to take. Thanks for reading. Hopefully it helps.

  7. Excellent... If i might suggest, you could try to angle the base of the top of the CG's a bit more. right now the shape of the top is an isosocles triangle.. whereas a PCG should be a little more scalene. Here's a gen PCG 5512 case I almost bought recently... note how the top of the case as it approaches the CG is a trapezoidal shape, and the top of the CG is a scalene triangle:

  8. I'd prefer a 002/009 Pre-A dial before an 000. As others have said, it's not as rare of a dial and sourcing a gen dial is a lot easier than pre-v or pre-a dials.

  9. After some time and a number of personal variations, Micky has completed my latest version of Noobs DSSD. Micky is an artist without question and the list of what he has done is as follows: Transplanted a NOS Swiss ETA movement (RADO) Replaced original dial with fully relumed dial, hands and pearl to match (red second hand personal option which I love!) Removed and double AR Coated crystal DWO from TC Waterproofed Timed to within a second of her life to COSC standards I am delighted how she looks, the entire project and would liek to publicly thank you Micky for your sterling work. 12. I have three or four good rep's, two neat franken's and plenty of genuine watches. I think there's some innate disappointment with the rep's that will happen but curing them is part of the fun process. My 5513 is literally now all genuine minus mid-case, dial, hands. It's been a lot of fun to build and perfect, and I'm not done yet! I think if you get into franken builds you'll find more pleasure in it. Rep's aren't for everyone, I think they're fun, but they aren't a significant part of my collection. I can't look past some of the flaws.

  13. When you are sizing up a watch on your wrist, try standing naturally with your arms at your sides, in front of a mirror. This is what the watch really looks like on your rist and you will probably find that it looks bigger that you thought it looked just looking down at your own wrist.

  16. The QC shows the micro etching at the 6. Do reps have those generally? That's some fine attention to detail.

  17. ^^ i agree. i used to LOVE big watches. i wore 45 and 47mm ones and looking back now, i must have looked ridiculous. the biggest watch i wear now is a 40mm TC Sub and sometimes that feels pretty big. i think my 36mm Vintage EXP I is the perfect size. i also have a 6.5in wrist. keep the watch man. its the perfect size for you. youre not a rapper trying to "ball out" or whatever. its a good looking watch. id just replace the hands and it would be perfect.

  19. lol this is a funny thread. But to the OP. We have trusted dealers. They are the best out there. But none live up to your demands. Pls use the search button and you will find the information you need. When you know the dealers here you know how to filter through their "noice". You will get a great rep, with pretty fast communication, that almost stand behind their product and with decent websites. Welcome to the world of illegal reps

  20. the hands on one of my PAMs have a chipped piece of paint off where they attached to the cp...any idea on what type of paint would work best as a small touchup...just looking for some advice from anyone who has done this - what type of paint, color/number, application process, etc...no need to repaint the entire hand, just wanted to hide a shiny chip... thanks...R
