  1. Just picked this Tudor Oysterdate up from a m2m sale, the case was out-of-the-box clean so I wanted to give it a 30-year hard life look. I updated the sterile crown to an Athaya 702 crown, shaved the crownguards, beatup the case and plexi. stained the dial markers and matte varnished the dial (which appears to be a RafflesTime dial), as well as stained the datewheel so it is more cream than bright white. The insert is temporary and will be replaced because it faded to more of a blue than I wanted it to, I was hoping for a matte grey, And Im not happy with how the pearl turned out. All I need now is the correct caseback to replace the sterile one that it came with, drill out the lugs, and to keep working the case and plexi with cape cod (I went a little overboard on the edges of the plexi, I must have run into a lot of door jams while I was wearing it ). Not bad for a cheap pickup

  2. Dear All, I received this in the mail today. It's a gift from a long term member of our community. I will not disclose his name here but I'm very impressed by the gesture. And I must say for a non Cosmograph owner it's very nice to wear it. Now the thing is I wonder what this example is. It looks like one of my previous ones (6263 Panda) that came from DW. Can you guys help me to identify my new beauty? Cheers Stephane

  6. Beautiful watch Stephane! Clapton's Daytona went for $1.4 million including buyer's premium this time around-amazing!

  8. Haha, just read an article. Quite interesting : I can say that I bought it from Eric Clapton "Clapton bought this watch in the late 1990s. It was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York sale of June 5, 2003, where it broke the previous world record for a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona by selling for $505,000 (five times its pre-auction estimate). Its pre-auction estimate for May is 500,000 to 1,000,000 Swiss francs. I am personally quite confident it will break the one million Swiss franc mark." That said, with only 4 examples and the sky rocket prices, I doubt anyone would believe me ;-) And my hands are black!

  11. Not a 205/A (Need to take better pictures of mine), but definitely old school 202/A... Wolf case, DLC'd Fatty CG, swirled pin T48 crown My dial, very dull lume, resin filled, with the resin dyed unevenly to get the aged colour rather than dye the lume, then lacquered. C3 crystal FGD hands Jakob caseback Swiss lowbeat 6497 Dirk strap unstitched with Rolexfinder buckle (remember those?) restitched in.

  12. I would not worry about pulling it off as a gen, a chance that someone will have a smallest idea what you are wearing is so small. I live and work in an area full of people wearing various levels of lux watches, running into someone wearing Panerai, Rolex, IWC's every other day. Few stores with Patek's, AP's, JLC's etc, within only few miles. I never think about it, does not matter if I'm wearing a Gen or a Rep on any given day.
