  2. I have been searching a good 1665 DRSD from quite some time... I studied the http://www.doubleredseadweller.com/ site and I came to the conclusion that the best one was one of the models Angus had prepared during 2011. Imagine what? Sold out... Some time has passed and in the meantime I purchased a donor Swatch from the nineties with a 2842 (same dimentions of the 2824) that I transformed into a 2846 (same dimentions of the 2836) which I finished to assemble this afternoon. Now I am back on the track to search for the DRSD, and here I am to ask for your help... I looked in the various TD sites but I really don't have the eyes to distinguish between good or bad versions of the same watch... It took me one week just to select the best one from Angus (the sold out one) Would you be so kind to suggest me a good stock DRSD? I won't start a franken project and the idea is to replace just the 2836 with my low beat swiss movement. So the rest should be decent as it comes from the dealer. Eternally thankful, GenTLe.

  5. The picture is a foot retainer. It just pops on. I would throw that movement away and get a chinese clone of the 2836. I've had nothing but problems with those movements. Probably what happened when you took the stem out, is you pressed the button down to far. That button is on the bottom of the set lever. When the set lever get's pushed to far up, it allows the yoke to slip out of place. DO NOT keep pulling on the stem, because you may bend the yoke corrector. Take the movement out, remove the bridge over the hour wheel, the remove the retainer over the keyless assy. You will probably see the yoke out of place. It sits in the groove over the clutch. Put it back over it, reinstall the keyless cover. When you do, at the top of that cover you will see a piece of metal that looks spring loaded. It is. Snug the screw that holds the keyless works, the push that piece of metal over the small tab that you see. That's the top of the yoke. Then tighten the screw and put it back together. Hopefully it works

  11. I paid USD 5800 ish for the 16800. It was a complete package with a japanese rolex punched paper. The dial has gone perfectly matte all around. Nice matching patina. I might regret selling it later but a 1680 is replacing it. So for now, there is no regret.

  15. I bought a nice Tudor Snowflake Ghost build last year as my 1968 birth year watch. I don't wear it often or as often as I should. The plexi T19 makes me a bit worried but again that crystal really makes the dial look spectacular. I am very glad to have it and thankful to the Italian watch smith/modder who made it possible. "What should we start with?" "An '82 Margaux." "Is it good?" "Good? It will make you believe in God!"

  16. Over bleached Cartel insert replaced by a cheap cousins insert. Not very accurate but nice enough for the moment. And the same insert bleached and heated.

  17. Hi ! After working on my silix 6538 http://rwg.cc/index.php?/topic/181731-Another-Silix-6538-project, I wanted to improve this josh 5512. To resume, I modded the dial few weeks ago with a noob horoloex lume kit and matt varnish spray. The insert was bleached to ghost. Today I relumed the dial with nemoto Green GLL-300F. The recipe is lume powder, matt varnish and a few Terre de Sienne pigment. Partially lose some dial dots paint, due to old baking mod try. Hands relumed to match. Lug holes drilled to 1.3mm. Crown guards shaved. Case sanded with 240, 400, 600, 1000 paper successively. Then polished. Bezel slightly sanded and polished. Next thing to do will be to change crown with an Athaya 700 or 702, and plexi. Thanks for looking guys.
