  2. Did I miss the 10 years of saving RWG forum party? Did Miss Understood pole dance at it? Did Jetmid show up? Did any TRL's get crossed? Back in early 2006, Facebook wasn't even open to the public to sign up to yet. And as the attached graph shows, we have almost EXACTLY matched the x axis passage of time as Facebook has. Rock on!

  3. Interesting article to read for sure, especially if you LOVE the new (basel 2016) 116500LN Daytona. https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ben-clymer-and-john-mayer-talk-about-the-new-daytona Let me know what you think!

  5. The watch was represented as "Dial has been retouched professionally." "The case is custom made." The dial may or may not be a 'retouched' genuine dial...hard to tell. Give it the benefit of a doubt. If the case was totally unsigned it would be eBay-Ok because the patent on the case design has expired. The catch is this case back is trademarked. That is an eBay-No-No. Btw...how many 1520 you see with a Dxxxxx serial number? Maybe it is a 1570/75 (D for date) main plate with a complete 1520 flat spring whirleygig assembly and auto wind top plate. Very few 1520/25 have serial numbers. I say 'very few' although I have not seen one.

  8. I have been a member of several gen forums for a long time. Mostly forums that are either non brand specific or more obscure brands. I know that there are others from here who visit those forums as well as here. I tend to agree with automatico, however my caveat is the real snobs, idiots and disillusioned belong to the higher end watch forums. These are the ones who tend to look down their noses at everyone who doesn't have a genuine Rolex, Panerai, AP etc., etc.. It is incredible the lack of real knowledge the members of these forums possess. Their knowledge of even their own model, the brand history, notable achievements are a "dark forest" to them. And to make it even worse, they aren't interested. All they want is a venue to show off their watches and brag about what a success they are. Having said that, it does not one scintilla of good to go on those forums and provoke them. Nothing is gained and all it does is draw unwanted attention to the rep forums. Another point, I don't think it a good idea to operate with the same user name across a lot of forums, especially if these forums are at cross purposes to each other. Certainly there are a fair number of genuine forum members lurking on the rep forums. Some are here to spy, others are just curious about reps, some are interested in seeing how really good the reps are. I have no problem with any of them visiting as long as they are not here to pick a fight. I'm sure that reading posts, they pick up on forum names, especially ones that are pretty odd and not seen often. When they see the same name pop up on the genuine forum, it rings a bell. My advice like lots of others before me is simply do not mention anything related to, pertaining to or linking you to reps on any genuine forum. Nothing good comes from it. I have a great example of something that happened several years ago on the Doxa forum on WUS. Dr. Peter Millar is the definitive expert on vintage Doxa watches. He wrote a wonderful book on the History of the Doxa Dive watches from the 1960's (Sub 300) to the present (About 8-10 years ago). Probably no one individual was held in greater esteem by the members of the forum. In a post he mentioned that he had purchased a replica Rolex Submariner and commented on the quality and closeness to the genuine. From the comments, you would have thought that he had confessed to molesting every girl in his home town Girl Scout troop!! Fortunately, most of the negative posters were folks who were occasional posters and infrequent visitors. Most of the regulars stood by his right to post what he felt was correct. Their support was at best lukewarm though. No one really wanted to go out on a limb and join his club!! He was very unrepentant, and challenged most who posted negatively to justify their position, which because of their ignorance they couldn't do. He survived unscathed to fight another day, but had this been just any regular member, they would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail!! So when you are in the den of the bear, don't poke the bear!!

  9. The insert is OK, but the new BP ones are much better (the ones with "wrapped" bezels, bracelets etc...). Don't know if they released a new Smurf however. --- Ask yourself, why do you want the Rolex Smurf? I'm going to do it easy for you. You don't want to regret the buy in half a year, and feel like one of those guys with a 200k $ "Tourbillon" VC or Patek and driving a 10k $ VW Polo. I'm not shallow, and actually don't care about being "called out" as I always say it's a replica/assembled from combination of real and aftermarket parts. BUT the fastest form of communication we send to others is the "iconic" communication. You will more likely be assumed to be shallow/materialistic if you show up at work with foundation, fake Gucci sunglasses, LV bag and pinstripe suit. especially if you work at a call centre. You might create obstacles socially before you even open your mouth for the first time. Why constantly paddle up stream? Sooooo... Let's get back to the point. Why do you want to purchase a rep of a watch that is "white gold" and costs numerous times more than a regular LN or LV? Unless you invested in Apple 1998 and just sold your stocks, the ones that know what it is, will most likely assume that it's fake. The ones that don't know that it's white gold and extremely expensive will also assume it's fake. What I'm trying to say is wear a watch that's right for you, your age, your profession. If you're 20-30 the Black Bay is much more suitable than a Smurf. Or a SM300? Maaaaaaybe a 114060/116610. If you just like the design. And the color isn't thaaaaat important. Just buy the Noob V6s LN. --- To finish my jumpy rant off... If you really want the LB, buy that one. It's about as good as they get from that model/maker (I think), If you now have doubts about the watch, or you want a near perfect rep, reconsider other alternatives. /V 1) Yes 2) I think so. However nowadays, BK is just a glorified drop-shipper that has a good partner in the Orient, that picks among the better ones. Also, the Swiss ETA is from factory, and usually dusty, used. In my opinion it's better to save the extra cash and invest in a gen crystal and a movement clean + regulation of an A2836 Cheers,

  10. Seems like you always know what to look for very well, helps many members out. Would you be so kind and explain me what to look for in QC pics regarding SEL-Fitment? I can spot the rest fairly well but I keep being troubled by the SEL-fitment. Thank you for your kindness. The bottom of the case does not appear scratched to me, just very strong lightning conditions to take pictures highlight the brushing done on the watch. You also mentioned the platinum coloured engravings on the bezel insert, they indeed look kind of odd to me as well. The "10" and the "50" differ in color from the rest of the numbers, and that's not a lightning problem but seems to be slightly under-filled with paint or perhaps a slight different color mix (if you ask me). I would mention this in response to the QC pics and ask if they can swap the bezel insert for a different one. My advice: Do not let them change the watch because, as hologramnet said, the rest of the watch looks perfectly fine straight from factory; consider yourself "lucky" for not getting crooked cyclops, misaligned rehaut, uncentered date, etc. So try to get them to swap only the insert instead of the entire watch!

  15. There's nothing not to love about this build. Stunning all the way...congratulations! I'm scared to ask what it would cost to source all gen parts like you've done.

  16. Forgot to share my upcoming project with you guys. I am able to get any AP dials, for the most part, so decided to take on couple of AP frankens, always wanted to have one. Well unfortunately it's going to be two of them. AP classic Panda and a little more challenging Bumble bee. The reason why I like these builds is not because of the uniqueness of the watches or the various challenges involved but also because this way you get to meet people who are truly passionate about watches and good at what they do. I'm fortunate enough to meet some really good folks because of these projects and now consider them good friends. This is going to be a long project but an exciting one and I'll keep you all posted. Hopefully from my experience I'll be able to share some useful information which might benefit other members looking to do something similar. Enough talking and enjoy some eye candy. Bumble bee needs a tachy which hopefully will be here soon. Enjoy and merry Christmas to you all Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
