Anyone in the market for quartz TAG Heuer 'time and date' watches and looking at replicas might also take a look at genuine watches for sale on TZ, eBay etc because many are not much $$ more than a replica now. One example is an 85% to 90% reference number 995 706K on TZ for $230USD (1-21-17). It is a classic design and well worth the money. Other models that can be found at bargain prices are the various TAG Heuer 2000 models. I have paid as little as $40 for them needing a little bit of TLC. This is the first watch I build from the mainplate up. I disassembled the movement, I cleaned the parts, I oiled it including the Incablocs. I rebuild the movement, I regulated it, I cut and filed the stem to size for the case, put on the dial with dial dots, installed the hands, cased it. It was a mess in so many ways. But I succeeded. It is certainly nothing special, nor is it my most beautiful watch. It is just crap from the net put together. But [censored] it I am sooo proud. :-) Thanks to all the enthusiastic guys and the inspiration of this forum. If it wasn't for you guys I would have never done it.

lol brilliant post ! loved reading this.. it goes to show like some have mentioned.. we have become such critics of franken builds and reps etc.. that we can find flaws in our heads on a GEN watch lol It shows how this hobby more so brings out the ultra watch snob in us all. if we can pick flaws in a Gen watch. I do not doubt that 99.9% of the population will not be able to tell some of the frankens and even full on reps in our world at this stage in the game. Beautiful watch by the way ! fell in love with this Daytona when it came out. Wanted one but zee warden would have my head on a plate like she did last month when I came home with my 13th guitar.. another Gibson Les Paul Custom shop lol I swear when my little one is born next month she/he will only know her/his dad as "Idiot"
