  1. After selling my 5513 which I still painfully regret I knew I need to have another vintage Rolex. Beginning of January (or end of December...don't remember) I bought a PT 1665. While I think the case is pretty okay I didn't like the dial, the crown and the DW and so I sourced some parts to have it changed. I bought a gen crown, Polexpete DWO and a modded DRSD dial and brought all of it to Domi. While he was working on my watch he showed me a very nice and crisp refinished gen GW dial, relumed by him with very nice and puffy vintage lume...I couldn't resist. And since Domi doesn't like to cut of the feet of gen dials he made a special movement ring to fit the dial and the movement. Unfortunately this process took pretty long and so I wasn't able to go home with my 1665 in January. Now, yesterday, after 3 month I finally found the time to visit Domi (and Daytona1984 who was at Domis too ) and he finished my 1665. The gen crown didn't fit the PT tube and so I sourced a "gen tube" (broke very easy and we doubt that it was a real gen tube) to have it put into the case. Funny thing is...the PT case doesn't have a thread for the tube...it's just pressed into the case. So he had to cut a thread and had to sink the hole to fit the gen tube (which I thankfully got from @Daytona1984). Overall there's pretty much work into that watch but I guess it's worth it. I really like my budget franken 1665. Next thing to do is once the a2836 dies to have a Swiss 2846 installed...but this can take a while Specs are for now: PT 1665 Gen refinished, vintage relumed 1665 GW dial Polexpete silver DWO (flat 3, open 6&9) Gen 703 crown Gen tube PT bezel and inlay Unknown T16 Cartel 93150 Cartel 580

  2. Howdy RWG. New to the hobby and chose my first Panerai to be the PAM195. I was fortunate to have picked this beauty up from a fellow forumite. Decided to throw her onto a reddened/tan calf Bakeka strap and the rest is history. Please enjoy my photos as they're for the enjoyment of the RWG community, cheers!

  5. If they have managed to fix the crown then it's a stunning rep and wandering into super rep status! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  6. Date on it is fine, it's angle and shadow that makes it look off. Lume dots seem pretty good too. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  9. The reason for the high value on the flat 4 insert is because the insert is discountinued and very sought after by collectors as the true 50's anniversary mk1 y-serial 16610LV had the flat 4 while the rest (mk2-8 with an exception for mk3) used the pointed 4 insert. So without the flat 4 insert i dont think that the watch will sell at $1,200. Just to give you an perspective on what the TC's use to go for id say a regular stock TC 16610LN v6 can be had for $600~ and a 16610LN v6 franken with gen crown, tube, insert and crystal is about $1,200-$1,500. I bought a 16610LN v3 a year ago with gen insert and gen crown for $450. Im not saying that $1,200 is the right or wrong figure, just that it would look like profiteering to me compared to what it actually is. But it all comes down to what people are willing to pay in the end.

  11. The seller may set the asking price at whatever they want but the buyer always sets the buying price. Hence the acronyms OBO, OBRO.

  12. Okay... First off, I apologize for the very crude, sloppy pics, but I snapped these in a hurry... 570 with an oversized 130; both are about the same diameter (~35mm/36mm): 16622 with the 130: 16234 with the 130: Trio:

  13. All good points Ken. I sent Ryan an email last night and basically said just ship me the watch using the safest method and left it up to their discretion. They ended up choosing DHL. I've ordered several watches from him in the last couple months and didn't have any issues with DHL, so perhaps in the end they figured it would all work out..? We'll see... I have learned a lot through this entire process. I will definitely respect vendors shipping recommendations more now... I just personally hold a grudge against USPS for some of the shitty things they've done with packages that I've sent nationally and internationally in the past.

  22. Sorry mate I am a Rolex vintage guy at heart that thing scares me! Although the throwing star for a pixie added to the dial is different................But in all seriousness it's the hands and the star that throw it off for me , now get ride of the star (seconds I gather) and put three hands on that are not so incongruous to the rest of the watch it would be a bit better.
