Well said Mike. Civilized societies did away with lynch mobs awhile back, in favor of evidence, impartial adjudication and hopes of correction and restoration. "Off with his Head" is a thing of the past where mature people rub elbows. Every one of us has skeletons in our closet, and we've all received forgiveness when we didn't deserve it. Personally, I'm grateful for that. It compels me to extend forgiveness to others whenever possible. I see a lot of people doing that here, and that builds strong communities. That is what makes this place great.3 points

Hi crazy watch lovers When I begun that build I made myself a promise that I would not create this thread before having a complete story to tell. But I'm too impatient so I have to post now ... and I will write and post eveything else later all along the builsing process. So what is this all about?... about an A/6538 ... a "Burford" one specifically Question was ... what should I do to wear this watch? 1st option was to become VERY wealthy and lucky enough to find one to buy ... 2nd option was to have some imagination plus a little patience and build one. Unfortunately, as far as I know, a correct 6538 case that already can receive a 5513 bezel costs about $800 to $1500 - totally out of my budget. Fortunately !!! I have A BUNCH of imagination and A BUNCH of patience. So here is what is already done : 1 - start with a Silix 6538 midcase ... $ 45 but NOT accepting a 5513 bezel assembly 2 - shave the rehaut and graft a new one ... "gen-specs" an "easy" mod as long as you know how to measure, design, draw ... and have a friend who own a lathe and is OK to provide some help 3 - build a Burford dial strating from scratch ... and while I was in the building a vintage dial I decided to make it "Tropical" So here I am now, with still a lot of work to do but the most difficult parts of that build (grafting the rehaut + building the dial) are already done. Building the custom bezel won't be easy but it's already in progress ... the rest will be a peace of cake So let's talk about THE CASE The Silix 6538 midcase have been rworked on a lathe and the original rehaut have been "shaved". A new rehault has been turned, on the lathe too. I did all the technical design but the lathe work has been done by my friend @mascob (not a member here unfortunately). @mascob sent me back the reworked midcase and the rehaut and I managed to make it all fit together. Here are some pics Silix 6538 midcase with the new rehaut already "grafted" + the T19 and the 5513 bezel assembly Same midcase with the T19 and bezel assembly on ... the bezel turns perfectly A "nice" insert (will change that one) and the home-made 26mm Burford dial that I'll put in that case About the ... BURFORD DIAL making Well ... that was "almost" easy I already had designed (for a nice forum member) a crispy Burford dial some months ago, using both Photoshop and Illustrator (dozens of hours searching for good pics + dozens of hours working on the design using a 5000ppi definition). That design was black and withe only and done for a standard Silix case using a 29mm dial so I : 1 - resized everything using Illustrator so the design could fit a 26mm dial (25.8mm exactly as the Burdford dials where supposed to be reprinted on on 6538 Gilt dials) 2 - spent about a dozen of hours (again) using Photoshop to design a "blank" tropical 26mm dial 3 - copied the white parts of the first design and pasted that on the "tropical" design 4 - printed on clear decal paper and protected with 2 coats of matte varnish 5 - prepared a 26mm dial with a "cream" paint ... randomly applied so that some areas where more or less clear or dark ... then sanded finely to get an almost smooth surface (not perfect) 6 - applied the decal on the dial and sprayed 2 coats of matte varnish ... each coat dried for about 24 hours 7 - sprayed a 3rd coat of matte varnish and used an hairdryer spo that the varnish dried faster on some areas 8 - sprayed a 4th coat of matte varnish and used the hairdryer again ET VOILA ... Now the next fun part of that build will be to put a 25.8mm dial in a modded 6538 midcase with a 26mm case opening WITHOUT holding it with a Gen movement It could be, theoretically, impossible ... But there are ways, you know, and I have a few more tricks up my sleeves and ... THAT is another part of the story that I still have to write ... just hope you liked this one2 points

It most certainly is the best Fluffy, we worked with you to keep you here, others would have blasted you and look at you now, you contribute more than a lot of people. That’s why we’re the best, we care and understand each other!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro2 points

Fox, maybe they just read you do not have to be a member here to read most areas. Could be could not but we as mods choose not to pursue it further at this time if we did it would be done quietly behind the scenes in RWGcc style no witch hunts and we ain't starting one now. Rush you are correct and rest assured I know the facts/details from Greg and TB, we have discussed this at length a matter of fact quite recently. Look guys it is really different here for better or worse well that is a matter of opinion but we believe in second chances in some cases and the rule of law not the mob. I will not re-adjudicate these cases here in open thread (that's for sure) nor in PM unless new info warrants it . As of a week or two ago neither Greg nor TB had anything new so at this time these matters are closed.2 points

Finally, after an agonizing wait, my dial is here! I'm ready to commence my next build ... the iconic Rolex 6204. The first "Submariner". Okay gents, pop quiz: where did I get this bad boy? Is this a Dark Lord dial? It's gorgeous for sure, but it pales in comparison to the glorious case set I've wrangled from a well known member here. Let the games begin!1 point

Good day members, Here’s my honest and transparent review of our very own AP guru and RWG crew member Legend! I’ll keep this a short and to the point as possible. I’ve never been an AP guy and my eye has always been towards Rollie’s and PAM’s until.......BAM! The release of the AP forged carbon and ceramic rep models. I was reluctant to purchase any AP as the price does not match my profession alas we’ve all had or seen this discussion on the forums. I fought the urge for a few years, yes a few years until recently I found out the Noob V4(supposedly the most accurate)was discontinued by the factory and only available for purchase M2M. I found one for sale on RWG and the journey began. Once I received the watch I simply could not take it off my wrist! It was the most comfortable and light watch I’ve ever worn! The stealthy black carbon case with splash of yellow is just plain sexy and screams renaissance man! Then tragedy struck! The deco rotor plate broke☹️ I replaced it but found the screws were stripped from previous owner and the movement was shot![emoji33][emoji37] So my dilemma was to find a forum Watchsmith that would work on AP’s. In comes Legend! After researching all forums I found his specialty was modding APs to gen like status. Contacting Legend was a breeze and communication is very easy, concise, and to the point! He explains in detail very well. Off I ship my watch overseas and the wait begins. Legend evaluated my watch and gave my a complete breakdown estimate of work needed and optional mods. To be completely honest I was surprised by his prices and thought they were on the expensive end but after his explanation and reviewing the going prices of a Legend modded AP FC Diver M2M I realized his work is “Legendary” and as always you get what you pay for! Legend was very honest in his assessment of my watch and what he thought I truly needed and didn’t need. I opted for the case polishing(bring out carbon pattern per gen), Omega datewheel(better font), rebuild of the A2824(dirty and to much oil), screws polished and rethreaded, and pressure testing. Legend takes great pride in his craft and wanted to make sure I was truly satisfied with the final results of my AP FC Diver. My Diver before Legend mod I received my watch back after a little over two weeks from Singapore. Legend does pay return ship and offers a six month movement warranty. All I could say was WHOA!!!! The watch is gorgeous and his rebuilt A2824 runs like a dream! Well over 42 hours power reserve, though I haven’t timed it. After Legend mod! Off into the sunset with my Legend modded AP! So much for the short review! My final take on Legend’s work. He is a master of his craft and takes great pride in his work along with customer satisfaction however be prepared to spend cash but the end result is well worth the price of admission! Enjoy to the max! Blessings, Indy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Every year for many years a couple of guys get scammed, it's a shame to say but on this festive and holy time for many religions out come the bad guys. Now I can tell you most if not all were avoidable here are some common sense let us call them measures. If a deal is to good to be true it is. Do not pay gift unless you know the guy, offer to pay fees and send as a purchase it is the safest. Watch out for fly by night dealers (AAA Swiss my A**), stick w/ our TDs. Buy the seller not the watch but also buy the buyer an offer from a guy posting regular w/ a VIP or Platinum should always be preferred. On another note guys will sometimes pop in here to buy who are known/regulars on other boards and will say so, you can PM me for background checks on a buyer or seller for that matter.1 point

I bought the barefoot Adidas trainers, 70% of profit goes to providing shoes for those that have nothing around the world. I can’t do it unfortunately as I can too easily injure the right foot and not know about it. Good on you and your family though! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro1 point

Greetings friends, following to one of my previous threads regarding to finding a movement for dial feet which were for a DG movement, I had to overcome just one more hurdle. I needed a datewheel overlay. That was the easy part, but having failed putting one on an eta, I considered in finding a way on not stuffing up again. While I was using blu tack to hang up a poster, it struck me to try out an experiment. I got my 3c tweezer and started pulling some very fine strands of blu tack fibers. I then placed some on the original datewheel, enough to grip the DWO, followed by placing the dial over it to see how it lined up. I then rotated the rapid date change until I saw some figures out of line. If out of line, I removed the dial and slowly turned the datewheel to get them right. Once achieved, I marked out with a very fine permanent marker on the edge of the DWO to the edge of the original date wheel. I then removed the DWO with the blu tack and put 4 tiny dots of superglue with an old oiler just enough to hold on. This makes it easy for later when removing it again for when doing further repairs or servicing . I then matched the markers with the two overlapping date wheels and placed the dial back on again. I repeated the rapid date Change to make sure it still lined up and presto it s on. If you are not confident with removing the DWO once you have placed it on the blue tack, you can leave it on I and just put tiny dabs of superglue on the edges of the two overlapping datewheels. Hope this may be of use to someone!!!1 point

Fox, I didn't intend my post as a rebuke. More of a statement of purpose. The early days of TRC and RWG (original) were the Wild West at times and we all had a dig at each other dozens of times. That's still welcome here and I've been on the receiving end myself more times than you can shake a stick at. We're all big boys and know when jesting takes on a sharp edge. I figure I'll never say anything here that I wouldn't say to someone's face... that works for me. In the meantime, who's got the best Sub?1 point

After last weeks experience, ""N O, NEVER AGAIN !!" I rarely ever walk barefooted unless at the beach or in extreme circumstances where I am forced to. Last week, I went from my front door of the house to the car on the road to pick up our shoe box as we had gone to the pool. I felt like I had stepped on a pebble which I could handle, but after showering I felt as if I had instead stepped on a nail. I kept ignoring it as I thought that I was think about it too much. Come bed time I could not put the palm of my foot flat down. Next morning, I could not walk and had severe swelling under my foot. Went into my clinic and GP sent me directly to hospital. Cutting a long story short,I had the doctor us a scalpel to remove that area removed from under my foot.after a few days of strong antibiotics! Hours later, he came in and showed me that a very fine shard of glass had been trapped there. I am still on strong antibiotics As I write here. Good for you!????Maybe for you, but as far as I am concerned I prefer to live in a civilised world. Why stop at walking in bare feet???? Stop wearing clothes, stop showering, tell the Mrs to stop shaving her legs and armpits, stop washing the dishes and eat out of the same dishes every day. That might also be good for you!!!LOL!!1 point

You’ve come to the right place and I’m glad to see, as a refreshing change, a new member with some class and manners. I hope you can stay and integrate yourself into our community. You might find it necessary to elbow the knitting ladies like@nanuq and@nikki6 out of the way occasionally but I trust that you’ll find your way around. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Nothing wrong with Beethoven and Mozart, I love classical music. Today however Number One Girlfriend has finally figured out how to use the kitchen music server. Only took four years? So we are doing LOUD. One of the great things about living where we do is we can have the music so loud the windows vibrate and we can do it day and night.1 point
