Thank you J for the superlatively kind review. Basically, the one thing that was done "the extra mile" for you, was the turnaround time for service, as you paid for a service and repair of the watch movement and the service and repair was duly provided as per my obligation. I do admit that my manner of communication could be cavalier, capricious or mercurial at times, but I wish to assure you (and anyone else reading this) that it will not compromise the level of work performed on the watch. Even if we disagree heatedly and start castigating each other on texts, PMs or verbally, the watch will be treated respectfully and worked on to the best of my ability. I do acknowledge that I am sometimes not the easiest person to work with, and I am grateful for your long-suffering patience. A virtue I am perhaps unqualified to benefit from, but did so anyway. I appreciate you taking the time to put forth such a detailed and honest review, and understand that not all aspects of your experience with me can be put into effable terms. Thank you for taking the time to condense the entire gamut of how you feel, elegantly into a review which is mostly positive. I do regret the contentious and disagreeable bits in our dealing, which you had thoughtfully and magnanimously chosen to omit. I guess that at the end of the day, a fighter seeks to win others, and a gentleman seeks to win others over. I am glad that you have patiently and graciously proven yourself to be the latter J. @solitudex, @kinkinza5 points

The TDs sometime believe that a watch is available but then they check and it is not. Remember it is not like a shop, they do not have the goods physically in stock. They only get them when you have paid for them so this unfortunately does happen. Try and remain polite with the TD no matter how frustrating it might be. Also bear in mind in the Chinese culture it is difficult to say no or that they cannot do something so you might struggle to get answers. We are approaching Chinese New Year and most stuff including the Postal service shuts down for essentially a month so the more seasoned players tend not to order until March. So if I were you I would politely ask the TD for alternatives. A few possible options depending on the TD in question. 1. Refund? You will loose out on the currency conversion and fees a by product of the hobby unfortunately. 2. You could ask if the watch will be in stock in the future. Remember nothing will really happen until March anyway. 3. You could choose a watch that is in stock for a similar price. 4. Have a credit note for a future purchase. I know none of this is ideal and it is a pity you had this experience on your first purchase. Please do not let that spoil it for you. There are years of pleasure (and pain lol) to get out of this hobby.2 points

This is a genuine Revue Thommen Quantième moonphase timepiece, my very first serious timepiece which I have procured in the grey market more than a year ago. It had arrived DOA, and after sending it back to the the grey seller and Swiss manufacturer for repairs (the latter being a regrettably costly move), the watch came back still broken! As such, it had sat in my dry cabinet for more than a year while I acquired several other timepieces along the way, mostly genuine and vintage watches. It might have been fitting to have had this review in the proper WUS forum, but I had gotten to know @Legend through the replica forums, and for the edification of the replica community, I decided that this review shall be planted here. I had gotten to know @Legend through another local modder aflop. In our initial casual conversations on our watches, I had mentioned about this broken watch and he had graciously offered to take a look at it. Nothing to lose, I had calculated mentally, when even the manufacturer couldn't fix it for me! To cut the long story short, @Legend took the watch, and fixed it before I could even request an update from him. Sheer insanity. He gave me a rundown of how the watch works (an ETA 2824-2 base movement with a Dubois-Depraz 9310 module, and how intricate a repair it was, given the setup of the watch. He sent me off with a charge that I ought to be extremely delicate with this watch, lest the module and parts break once more under my care this time. I have adjusted the time, day, date, and moonphase over this time back in my care, and all of them work as they should. That is some pretty impressive work by our very own admin and modder in the replica watch communities. I had thrown him a curveball and he has dealt with it with an unmistakable elegance and finesse. Over the course of our continued interactions, @Legend has revealed that he could deal with any repair or mods under the sun. Movement servicing, platinum paint mods and SEL mods (for your subs, DSSDs etc.), waterproofing, datewheel mods (for your 7750 3-6-9 chronos), AR works, just to name a few common ones we in the replica community need. Admittedly, he is not the most humble person, but the important fact is that he could certainly back up his statements with the first class calibre of his work, with me being a direct beneficiary of it. I would highly commend his services and offerings to all without reservations, whether it be for a replica or genuine timepiece. If you're based in Asia, there shouldn't be any reason not to look for him. That said, if you are based on the other side of the world with no reliable local watchsmiths (I'm looking at you, our American friends), it would do you good to consider @Legend to service your timepieces. Thank you once again, Al.2 points

After 8 iterations (actually many more if you consider all the factories producing replicas of this iconic watch), they have not managed to get this perfect, but that is to be expected of this as well as any other watches in the hobby. In general, progress is being made toward the quality of replicas, but details will both improve and regress with each iteration. The 904L steel is a nice touch. I doubt there will ever be a perfect 1:1 sub rep but striving for a "believable on the wrist" rep is definitely reason. That criteria will vary for each one of us though.1 point

Hello Bart. I am using cartel 1675 shaved CG, 1675 pixel but shaved cyclops. And hand shave slim the case thickness. Viet bezel, insert, bracelet and dial. eBay sliver DWO paint white and fill black and red. At first I use your decal mod. But I can’t manage to make the Callander hole perfect. So I go for viet dial. Decal is more suitable for non- date model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro1 point

Great observations, all. Might I introduce another category to the initial question? My watches are almost all gen, and worth truly stupid amounts of money. So much so, that they live in a safe and never see the light of day. But I want to dive with them, and climb rocks, and wear them in a laissez-faire manner, as would anyone in the 60s when they were made. Remember, these were "tool" watches, to be used roughly as tools. Scratches and dings and leaks were expected. Because they were tools. I can't justify taking a $50,000 watch swimming. That's insanity. But damn if it wouldn't look cool to do that... to look at that beast on the wrist in its natural setting, under a butt load of water, doing what it was meant to do. If it was truly a $200 watch, you'd do that and not think twice. Use it, and if it leaks try to dry it out. If it rusts, screw it and go get another $200 watch at the Rolex dealer. Who can't risk $200 for a tool? So we have the desire to use them haphazardly, like James Bond jumping in the ocean in Thunderball and not thinking twice about his genuine 6538. I mean c'mon, it's a fricken dive watch. Of course it's not going to leak. Don't even think twice about that, just wear it. But.... can any sane person take a 6538 in the ocean now? Hell no. The parts are unavailable. If it rusts, you're done. So what do we do to scratch that itch? Voila' the Genenstein. Build something that looks and acts and feels and works EXACTLY like a real period piece. But make it with parts that are relatively easily available. Who can spare $200 for another ETA movement if it floods? Me. So I get to use it haphazardly, jump in the ocean if I feel like it, and NOT FRICKEN CARE if it floods. I'm not risking a vintage movement, and the genenstein dial will only look better than it does now if it floods. It's a win-win. So there it is... a watch that can be used as if it was gen, and looks like a gen piece, but it's relatively inexpensive enough to justify the risk. It lets us experience, almost, the carefree feeling of the early days of Rolex tool watches.1 point

There's been a lot of interest lately in 7206 bands. This is a way I found to take the rep 7206 one large step closer to the gen profile. I hope it helps!1 point
