  1. I receive several PMs daily from various members, mostly newbies. Most of them wants to know various basic stuff: who the trusted dealers are, which model is the best, do I have this and that model for sale etc. Questions which are harmless in themselves. My gripe is with the feeling that the senders of the questions usually do not display good manners and most don’t bother to say please, thank you or do a basic introduction of themselves. Yes we are a close knit community and we should help one another whenever we can. Yet I cannot help feeling that such exchanges can be much better greased with basic manners and pleasantries, especially when the asker is new and feeling his way around. I used to be a lot more patient with such PMs and will spend time and effort to answer the questions posed, only for most of the guys asking to just vanish without even a simple thank you, after getting the information they seek. Do you guys get the same kind of PMs sometimes, and how do you feel about them or deal with them? I am selective about who I choose to help or respond to these days. It is ok if you’re new and want to get shortcuts to the info you seek. I did that as well when I was new. But it is not ok, in my opinion, not to bring good manners along when you’re expecting someone else to spend time to help you out. Yes this forum exists as a platform for all of us to enjoy the hobby better. So even when you’re new and know nothing, you can still make the exchanges better by being polite and appreciative. It’s like asking for directions and then spending 2 seconds to say thank you rather than just walk away without saying anything at all after getting the help you need. To the newbies, manners maketh man. If you bother to take the time to send a PM and expect a meaningful reply, then please, display less self-entitlement and better manners. Nobody owes you anything and good manners is the grease that keeps the cogs of interaction turning smoothly. Will you take the time to answer the PMs that you send, even if you know the answers? It is ok to ask questions, but not ok to feel that you are entitled to answers automatically just because you’re asking them. I’ve ignored about 50% of the PMs sent to me in the past 3 months due to the self-entitled sounding questions. Come on newbies, if you expect me to respond to you meaningfully, then be better mannered please. Else just post your questions in the forum and let whoever is willing answer them. 3. No worries, one doesn't need a Y chromosome to appreciate watches and the finer mechanics within I prefer clean, simple dials, and have to admit that I can't quite appreciate the busy dial that the Navitimer has - I'm sure @solitudex will share his knowledge on his Navitimer with you should you be interested. Additionally, the Breitling brand forum on RWG might be the place to find more kindred spirits where the Navitimer is concerned. Have a great time learning and enjoying this hobby!

  4. The legend is mostly true, except that said service was limited to the removal of the caseback. I’m still trying to progress beyond that the blindfold is in place. Navitimers are the second best looking watches in the world J, with the rest of the watches being #1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Hello Go to any dealer website and check out the datejusts and see which you like. The different factories often produce different reps and each will have its own merits and minuses. It is mostly up to you what you can accept and what you cannot. For the movements, it is generally true that most of them come with dirt and are poorly oiled and in need of cleaning and service. The power reserve is just one aspect of movement health and yes it’s possible to get the movement serviced in order to improve the power reserve (mostly through reduction of gear friction or a better mainspring) if that is important to you. Depending on where you’re based, we have guys like@ssteel and@misiekped who can help you regarding this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. @kinkinza I have just also taken the opportunity to decide that I will put a 20% premium on servicing or modifying Breitlings. They go toward the sacrifice of my ocular health.

  11. Welcome to RWG. A few things please: 1. I am based in Singapore. I am also a fire-breathing dragon at times. 2. @kinkinza is not a "bro". 3. @solitudex is a "bro", and based in Singapore too. You guys share the same.. taste for watches I see. Navitimer: something I cannot unsee once seen lol. Lastly, enjoy yourselves, and remember that if and when you do PM me (you will once solitudex comes into the picture), having good manners is the way to go forward.

  15. Ok. So let me just ask; Would it be better to have just the classifieds-section? if we remove the cross-postings this makes into the sales forums? That way all sales would be moved to the classified section and sales forums would be removed from the main form? Or would this make the sale section disappear even more? I kinda like the classifieds idea, as it provides a good interface for sale adverts, but if people like the old format with just posting a "For sale"-threads better, I will of course have to consider bringing this back and remove the entire classifieds area

  16. I think you may be on to something here. Updates to the TD section with current contact info more activity from the members. I’m guilty of this as well. I’ll go to the other forums to browse m2m, learn about whats new coming out etc etc. then come back here and chill How do we get the TD’s more involved?some of the TD’s are more active on the other boards, with interactions and feedback on future releases Fix m2m. (Old way was better)

  17. The 6204 is the only Submariner I own. I first saw a picture of it as a 'Sub-Aqua' on Stefano Mazzariol blog that freddy333 referred to during the 6542 builds. It's really a tough call for me between the 6542 and the 6204. I love `em both! The 'Brevet +" case engraving is by our own JMB.
