  1. I look at genuine rlx forums every few days for two reasons: 1...To learn something. 2...To have a laugh. My favorite forum is VRF aka VIRDBIF (Village Idiot Rolex Dial/Bezel Insert Forum) They obsess 24/7 about dials and bez inserts while a rotted out case does not seem to bother them at all. Here is what makes me laugh: Someone will post a picture of a watch or dial and ask "Is this dial Ok?" The comments will be... "It's Ok." "Maybe it is a service dial." "Looks like it's been touched up." "It might be refinished or fake." "It is an outright fake!" "It is a horrible fake, anyone can tell that!" (after it fooled them all for a week) "It is garbage!" "They oughta hang the guy who made it!" Sometimes followed by: "Wonder where came from?" "eBay." "No, it's better than that.,.but it is still atrocious." "Yukiwatch maybe?" "Nah, I doubt it." "Looks like a Vietnam dial to me." Maybe they want to know where it came from so they can buy one... There are a few guys on there who know what they are talking about and I respect them but it seems the newbies are getting goofier as time goes by. I'll admit many (most?) of the better replica dials will fool me but it does not matter that much because I am not into paying $25k for $2000 watches in the first place.

  4. I've had a little go at scribing the athaya crown, can't really get a decent in focus picture but I think with a bit more practice I can get a better result

  5. SO, it's finally time for a new crazy gen spec-build. After a Daytona w/ gen 4130, 16610 w/ all gen parts except for midcase, now we're going the way of the ceramics. Items will be as follows; ------------------------------ Noob v7 116600 SA3135 408 USD [ordered] Genuine 3135 (brand new) 2400 EUR. Hands NOS 175 USD [ordered] Dial NOS 650 USD [ordered] Ceramic insert NOS 650 USD [ordered] Gen 704-crown 100 USD + full tear-down of the 3135, and assembly, and water testing: 450 EUR w/ Mikael @ www.urdelar.se Keeping rep: Midcase, bezel assembly, crystal, tube, caseback, bracelet. ------------------------ Preliminary cost: 4300 USD It's definitely way better than the 12500 USD I paid for my gen (which I sold a couple of weeks later). 4300/12500 = 34,4% Franken cost.

  6. Dear Friends and Members, I've been diagnosed with heart-failure. I have a bad aortic valve, bicuspid with aortic regurgitation. This has caused my ejection fraction in my left ventricle to dip below 30% and the pounding I felt in my chest a week prior to Christmas was the right side of my heart going into overload trying to keep me upright. I've been taking it easy and an open-heart surgery to replace the bad valve with once sourced from what I imagine is a lovely little porcine is soon to be underway. I'm a 38 year old male, non-obese with normal cholesterol, blood-pressure, and in otherwise great health. This is apparently a genetic connective tissue disorder gone off the rails. If you feel something... say something, you fellows especially. Don't be stubborn or stoic - it can kill you. Wishing you all good health and a wonderful 2019. I'll be on here and there during my recovery. I'll keep the morphine (or whatever they give me) dazzled trolling to a dull roar 😉 Fondly, A

  7. Hi everyone. I'm not back in any significant kind of way... My interests and priorities have shifted massively since then.. Notwithstanding... tonight I did comeback to do some research and I've been compelled to say hello to everyone that might possibly remember me from back long ago! I saw my fair share of people come in go during the years that I was active and I always appreciated RWG's policy of "Fine People"... Seriously some of the best out there! And I hope the saying still holds true! Anyways.. Just saying hello!

  8. I posted a picture of my gen 1665 over on VRF and got a reply "bad dial and hands". I don't go there much anymore, there's nothing to learn.

  9. Yeah, but you are not dumb enough to have paid gen price for them🧐

  14. Your situation seems identical to my younger brother who is about your age too! with today's technology and advancing treatments, the prognosis is quite good! My late father had a low ejection rate of 17% and passed away at 87! Be positive and try to remain as calm as possible that once this is over you will feel great again!! I am sure other members of the forum are with you in this trialling time! My best wishes and Godspeed!

  15. I had the same surgery for the same reason 7 years ago. Good news is that after the operation you will feel like you are 20 again. It is amazing how you get accustomed to functioning at 30%. Porcine is the right choice. The last thing you want to be doing is taking coumadin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
