  1. This swan neck cannot be functional at the moment because the regulation index is trapped underneath, it shouldn
  2. So the 52 teeth belong to Pre-Vendome Panerais? Well, that
  3. Now that you know he owns a few reps as well you could just wear a (good) rep next time and if he asks about it you can just tell him right away it is a rep. If he then asks about your reasons for reps or if you start talking about reps you could just mention that he allready arrived, but you still have to care for your future. That would make him feel respected and show him that you have a balanced attitude about spending money and not just throw out every penny for expensive toys and status symbols. He knows very well that collecting watches is expensive and if you tell him that you feel you allways think twice about spending big money even when you like a nice watch, this won
  4. Seems to be the only reasonable explanation for that number of crowns that are so close to OEM specifications. Otherwise Panerai or Richemont would not have allowed or tolerated such a number of gen parts on the free market or even Ebay. However we
  5. So your Panerai is a gen? BAH! So what? My crown has more teeth so I win! I
  6. T had no possibility to compare a first sample to a gen before the full run of 750 was done, he had to rely on the drawings and infos that came from us. This went awfully wrong, so many fellows here were convinced that the gen crown had to have 60 teeth that no one of us actually counted them until T told us about it. He could just have kept quiet and no one would have counted them until 2010. Instead he came up with this info and offered right away to do a second run of correct 1:1 crowns. Allready the first production run is now the best aftermarket crown available. So let
  7. Stormtroopers fotos seems like 56 - 60?!? What the... Is it a gen crown? And from which model? Manual? Auto? I am really confused! My manual crown (gen from the turkish guy) shows 48, but this one?
  8. I feel really ashamed, I checked every functional dimension of the crown 3-4 times but never counted the teeth (though I had a gen one in my drawer) as it seemed that everybody was the opinion that the gens had 60 and the old Ti ones that came with the 036 had a wrong number of 48 teeth. Now that Tourby told me about an hour ago that something was wrong. I started counting. Damned! It
  9. Look at the shock protection, it
  10. Sorry I forgot the "Amerigo Vespucci", a Marina Militare with special engraved full caseback and blue dial with a nice decent metal shine. Similar category as the 036 as they are the only real special editions among the manual Ti versions.
  11. Some extra info: There are 8 Titanium manual winding models by Panerai with in total 10 variations: 036 - brown dial with Marina Militare text, OP II movement (square bidges of the standard Unitas), exhibition caseback, 500 pieces limited edition 040 - black dial (Luminor Marina), OP II movement (square bidges of the standard Unitas), closed caseback, 500 pieces made but not declared a limited edition, therefor a 040 without traces of wearing is at least as much of a collectible as a 036 056 - brown dial without seconds subdial (Luminor), same movement as 040 and closed caseback 061 - brown dial with seconds (Luminor Marina), OP II movement, closed caseback 116 - followed the 056, same watch as 056, but with OP X movement (Panerai style bridges and swan neck without seconds) and exhibition back 118 - followed the 061, same watch as 061, but with OP XI movement (Panerai style bridges and swan neck with seconds) and exhibition back 176 - black dial, but everything else is just as the 116 177 - black dial, but everything else is just as the 118 176/177 H series: From H series on the watch came with a sandwich dial and a thicker CG. The movements were no longer decorated with Panerai engravings all over them but with a "Cote de Geneve" decoration. My advice is to look for a nice 177H with correct swan neck movement as the earlier OP XI version is a little hard to find at the moment. You might decide for a basic 118 without swan neck movement and change the caseback to make it a 061. But the 118 as well as the closed caseback is hard to get. There are 2 standard rep cases out there: - The case with the 48 teeth crown: nice watch, but the bezel is too thick and the lug ends need a minor correction to be authentic as the are too round on their topside. This case usually comes with the 036 or the 118. - The other case is quite good, but the Ti watches come with a 60 teeth crown (correct) made of stainless steel (incorrect). But you might consier a T-crown anyway. This case comes with most 177H. If you prefer a non-second (base) version you might have to get a base dial and cut the seconds pinion from the movement. Talking about Asian/Swiss just spend some more on a correct swan neck movement but don
  12. In fact it all depends on proper function of the crown/lever setup. If the crown gets locked down correctly so it is pressed into the gasket then there
  13. Welcome to this new playground. Lots of nice toys here, expensive, but still cheaper than the gens. Don
  14. No the gen has allways 60 teeth, sorry I irritted you. But the rep crown that gave the dimensions for the functional part with the rep tube/case/CG was 48 teeth. The gen crown you see on my comparison fotos gave most of the aestheticaly important external dimensions for the T-crown.
  15. V has allready shown us that the new T-crown replaces the 48 teeth crown correctly. (was designed with a 48 teeth version after all) So here
  16. Well, I just think that Saakashvili went too far with his EU stuff, as this obviously is targeted towards the uninformed people outside Europe (and we both know there are enough of them, you know where to search them). He then claimed that the number of civilian casualties that were given by Russia were exaggerated, which is well possible, but even though: Where did they come from if Georgia did not do anything provocting this illegite invasion as he calls it? I am convinced that the truth was one of the first vitims of this war and every party has its own "truth". But these lies were far too obvious to get through with it so that

    111H is a 6497 manual movement whish has a 1,2mm stem. Congratulations, T, I
  18. Light infantry rifle? Only a minor wound, rather a a scratch? A sniper only hitting her arm? Of course, that must have been a russian sniper! ??? There are allready other info like fotos of war victims that have been discovered as fakes or at least published with false information. I can try to find them again and post some links then if someone is really interested. By the way, there are voices talking about direct relationships between the georgian president and the neo-cons, they say (with some good info supporting this idea) that there is a very direct relationship between them and Saakashvili, that he
  19. Ouch, these misspellings are horrible, I really should read my stuff before hitting the button...
  20. By the way, another interesting fact is that Russia allways claimed the intention to protect the russina population in South Osetia. They never claimed to protect the safety, freedom or independence of South Osetia itself. Why? The reason is that if they give South Osetia as a self-administrated region a profile by doing so North Osetia might claim independence from the Russian Federation and declare the intention to become an independent nation toghert with South Osetia (which might find lots of acceptance there). It seems that the numbers of victims on both sides as well as the real combat activities of both sides will remain in the dark as this seems to be pretty much of a media war with no intention on both sides to be really open with informations that can be verified by an independent media.
  21. Optical disortion on the surface where water meets air. If you look at a boat in the water it seems to have the stem bent backwards at the waterline. If you look at an object in the water at an angle of 60
