  1. I can't say that he will or he won't but I know he's not making any money off of these Cheap PO's so its difficult to just eat the cost.

Some members are saying the rust is from sweat off of the maker's of the watch. Mine came in OK, but I've seen the threads from other members.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Your father will understand when he does receive his watch.

  2. Tis true...

Was in Sak's 5th ave in ATL last weekend w/ my girlfriend on way back to masters; I was just goofing in watches while my girlfriend looked at shoes/sunglasses/etc. Was wearing the big 127, saleswoman tripped over herself to pull out a few cartiers even though I told her I was just goofing and waiting on my girl. Tried on the Santos 100 Chrono though.. MONSTER watch, that thing is huge!

Oh yeah, when I'm in ATL I like to visit Lennox Mall, there is a watch store there that has every brand you could imagine under one roof. And yes the sales people stare at your wrist to size you up! :whistling: Just the outer window has about 100 watches in it. I was drooling all the way past the store!

  3. Don't forget about "After the Sunset" Brosnan and Harrelson both wear Panerai (I think PAM 220's???). The watchs are actually used as a conversation piece during the movie at two points during the movie. Not to mention its a good movie!

Also don't forget about watches on TV.

18k Rolex Date Just on James Gandolfini in "the Sopranos". And Micheal Imperioli wears a Cartier Roadster on the show. There have also been one occasion when Tony (Gandolfini) gave a guy a Patek Phillipe for giving Carmela a stock tip.

Breitling Chronomat and Navitimer on Jerry Seinfield's wrist.

And David Caruso wears several cool watches, including a Panerai, in CSI: Miami.

Man, what is the point when you realize you have a "watch problem?"

  4. Joe, hope you get to feeling better. I don't have asthma, but I do live in the old north state too and this time of year is certainly more difficult than most. Never fails, about a week or two after the Pine Pollen, the other stuff starts hitting me badly. My eyes will water, my nose will run, I look like I'm freaking crying all the time. Work seems impossible and I just work on car stereos so I know working on watches must be difficult.

But there is hope in site, once the pollen season passes at least. I'm by the beach and man is it nice in this town when the weather warms up!!!

Keep your head up man! :victory:

  5. I pulled the trigger on a SMP from TWG that should arrive this coming Monday. Andrew swears he will stand by the quality of his merchandise so we shall see. Its an ETA version. I can't wait to see it.

I'll post pics when I receive.

  6. I'll try them, thanks. I found a guy on Paneristi.com that sources mineral and sapphire ones for the Fiddy but he's out of stock. We traded e-mail earlier today.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try to size the pic better next time so it doesn't look like:

The Attck of the Fifty Foot Fiddy!

    Steve

How much is he asking for the sapphire crystals?

    thanx

    Jon

  7. Here's the Canal Street test. Take a swiss army knife and drag it across the crystal harshly. If it ruins your crystal it is mineral glass. If it doesn't it is sapphire.

    :Jumpy:

Disclaimer: I am in no way responsible for you ruining your own watch. Use this test at your own risk. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. I personally have had an experience with Adee Kaye watches. Back when I was without rep sources for a couple of years, a low point in my life :wounded1: , I purchased a Navitimer "Homage" watch off Ebay. It was advertised as "Stainless Case, back, and band". I thought, "Not a bad deal", other than the fact it was quartz, it looked just like a Breitling. So I ordered it, and one week later I received from California.

I open the box, whats the first thing I do? Look at the back and :yucky: , it was "STAINLESS STEEL BACK". "oh no no no, I will not be keeping this plated CRAP."

Long story short. They have some nice looking, "homage" style watches, but they are not good quality. I'd rather spend a couple hundred more and have a nice rep w/ automatic chronograph movement, solid stainless steel, and SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL! :yeah:

    Cheers,

    Jon

  9. Hey guys,

Took some advice and decided to change the band on the "Fiddy". Saw what Tanfo was doing with some of his collection and decided to give it a shot.

Took the original band that came with the 127. Soaked in bleach for 10-12 minutes. Then scrubbed with brush. Stuck it in the dryer for about 40 minutes and hooked her back up.

Interested to see and hear some comments.

  10. Check these out!!! Might be of interest to own gen.

    RockxWatch

Yes these are available on some of the Gen forums though they are basically reps. They were determined in court to be infringing on Panerai's Trademarks, I think in Japan.

Beleive it or not there are reps of these on Ebay.

From what I hear if you find a 47mm version they are very expensive now because of supply shortage and high demand.

My suggestion, buy a Fiddy Rep and save the money. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  11. Just to be sure, I popped the back of mine off. Movement looked clean. No corrosion, no rust, no signs of water. It has the o-ring sitting in place nicely too. Some silicon grease couldn't hurt, but I have none at the moment.

Sorry to hear of you guys misfortune.

  12. Thats a bummer man. I've had mine now for two or three days. Very nice looking watch especially for the money. I've showered in it no problem. I wouldn't ever try and take it for a swim though. I'm thinking about popping he case back just to check and make sure my movement appears clean.

Andrew will take care of you though. He really is Trusty.

  13. that non-broken one looks like better quality watch... looks nice!

Yeah I agree, especially the lume on the bezel @12. It looks like its actually recessed under sapphire like the gen. The other just looks like an ugly blob.

Very nice peices though. How much do those puppies weigh each? I ordered the stainless version and Custom's nabbed it. Now there are no more available.

    Jon
