  1. Very valid points Victoria, but I was trying to buy CN movements and he (Crippler - it does sound funny does it?) sounded convincing with his factory connection. Try to find a good deal on movements nowadays and you try anything ...
  2. Evergreen is still a new arrival according to his profile, even though he joined here an on RG almost a year ago. He had zero posts on both forums until last week, when he posted something about giving out information about Crippler. (see scam warning post) He send me several PM's here and on RG asking my opinions about Crippler and what I ordered??? Since he offered it, I PM'd him about the information about Crippler that he said he had - he never answered. Has anybody have similar experiences with this member? And - who are You Evergeen?
  3. Well that would really be amazing after all this time. Lets hope so... BTW I did start that thread on repgeek back up also, because I was worried that all his postings are still there.
  4. I wrote because this topic was dissapearing and Cripplers trap is still set on Repgeek. Newbies who have not heard about his mess can still get caught by him. Shut him down is what I am saying!
  5. Well - what happens now? Is this thread just going to fade away and Crippler walking away into the sunset with the loot? His account on Repgeek is still active, don't know how much he did here, all his threads are still there on RG, even the one with his "Chinese friend" any newbie that does not know about all this s**t can be sending him money right now for all I know..
  6. I don't get what the point is - being German myself - 'Buy Now' means exactly the same. It sounds different, but it would sound different in Russian or any other language. One post was about yelling it, but if you yell 'Buy Now' it sounds harsh too. Yeah - maybe too many holywood movies with gruff German villans...
  7. I am really happy for Marion Cotillard - she just did an amazing performance!
  8. Just got my brand new Seiko Samurai from Japan - thanks to Ajoesmith! Since he went there for a trip he had offered to buy Japanese watches for forum members and I was very pleased with this purchase. Email comunication was very fast and he mailed the watch by EMS right away, I had it here (US) only 4 days later. Thats how fast it Can go... I am very happy with the looks and feel of the watch, even though it is bigger then I had thought. Even after I took 3 links out, the bracelet is still loose and with all the links it would have fit Gozilla - or Arnold. Also the weight is considerable with 190 gramms of solid Japanese steel, indeed almost enough to make a small Samurai sword. With its clean and sharp lines it deserves that name and having it on my wrist feels very nice, not too big or heavy at all - it has a very comfortable fit. The movement is accurate as one would expect from a new Seiko, but like all of the Seiko automatics it lacks the ability of being hand wound, you have to shake it to get it going. That is fine if you wear a watch all the time or you have a watch winder, but if you switch watches a lot and have no winder then it is a minus. The Seiko Lumibrite in real looks even brighter then in my picture and only on a gen Omega have I seen similar lumes. Thank you very much Ajoesmith!! Well enough blah blah - here are the pics:
  9. This is a great tutorial and for some reason I am liking the look of the Pam style more and more - strange Before I joined the forums I had never given them a second look!
  10. Well if that is a rep I want one of those. Misplaced - box? Happened to me too, you find it 2 years later somewhere. But personally I would not buy a gen Rolex without a shot of the movement. My teacher, a cert. Rollie watch master told me he had several in his carrer he would have sworn were real. Opened them up and went 'Oh - s***!' But that's just me...
  11. Well obviously I hope you are wrong about that. But didn't anybody else get a PM from him? I was hoping to hear a lot more by now....
  12. Good news - I just got a PM from Crippler on repgeek saying not to worry he will sort it all out. Man - I am reliefed that it might be false alarm afert all.
  13. I checked the tracking numbers and they did not work. The dealer told me that EMS is slow with their numbers and I would have my packages probably before the numbers work. Well that really did happen to me before, but it did not take 3 weeks for the package to come... Also back then the numbers showed eventually and this time they still don't work. I still hope that for some reason things got messed up in China and eventually it will resolve itself, but there is not much else I can do -or?
  14. There seems to be some confusion as to how I got into dealing with the guy in Sweden. Here is the PM I got from Crippler on Repgeek shortly after I joined: Here is my supplyers european email. Rizshop@yahoo.se he has great prices and great qualety, down side is he being a manufacturer he doesnt have a website.... i usually send him pics of the reps i want, and he gets me the rep. my latest wach from him is a AP with sapphire glass ...i got it for 170 dollars, josh and andrew sell them for around 300 dollars. buy with confidence , he will not scam you. iam happy with my reps i got this far, Good luck keep me posted! happy new year Salud
  15. I feel like I have to add to this warning! I ordered from a dealer that Crippler on repgeek recommended and never got anything so far. The tracking numbers they gave me never worked on EMS's site. They told me to be patient, that EMS has problems. So I waited - now 3 weeks and nothing. On top of that the dealer does now not respond to my emails anymore. I cannot help but be very worried now.
  16. $70 for a 2836-2 at Otto Frei? You might want to call and check that price. Due to the weak Dollar and availability problems the prices on ETA have almost doubled. Add that to all the problems mentioned above and the fact that cheap reps also use cheaper cases, bracelets, crystals and it becomes a silly thing to do.
  17. The 'mistake' is probably on purpose so you keep looking for the perfect rep.. What is important to me is the outside look. The dial, crystal, case, bracelet, bezel and crown have to look like the gen. So bad lumes, misspellings on dials and poor bracelet quality is what bugs me. I don't care about markings inside the watch - in fact they should write Shitnerbrand in there or the cases will end up as gen cases on ebay and it will be hard to tell from a picture. Once the watch is open, one look at the movement and everybody knows anyway - or? I don't know why they can't use a better lume - its not that expensive. Another thing that bugs me is cheap crystals pretending to be sapphire. Especially if they are curved they are poorly made and distort light. I can buy in the US a curved mineral crystal for $3 that has no distortion when looked through from the side. The rep company sells it to you as a 'sapphire crystal' and it is probably the cheapest piece of mineral crystal they can find. I had even one joker call it a sapphire when it was a plexiglass crystal. If you believe there is a sapphire in a $50 retail watch you are dreaming. There is not much differnece in hardness. Mineral crystal is not glass, it is almost as hard and only very slightly less scratch resistant then sapphire and is just as colorless. So it is very difficult to tell, but at least they could use a distortion free mineral crystal. There - I guess that was one of the things that bug me the most. Thanks - its good to blow off some steam sometimes
  18. Very good advice, since this is different from the Chinese movements where it is better to pull the stem when its in the winding mode. I had trouble with that before also. Good luck getting the lever back in!
  19. I like authenticity, but I love that dial If I ever get a newer case I will probably switch the insides, but for now it has to do. Thanks for your comment!
  20. Love that watch, keeps great time and I should be getting an aftermarket 18k bracelet any day now, it won't make much difference in the look, but make me feel better. Yeah that case opener is nice! On the gen cases it just grips perfectly and never slips - not quite as tight a fit on the rep cases. The movement I used had just a perfect date disk in it, looks exactly like the one for the 3035 movement. I am thinking of buying cheap reps with good date fonts just to get the movements, unless I find a source that sells Chinese movements with those fonts. Is it true that they even have some regular CN mvmnts now with the 28,800 bph? I have not seen one yet but I heard they exist. If anybody knows a source... Thanks much for looking!
  21. Well I finally managed to take my last FrankenDj of my wrist - I made another one that I like even more : This is getting to be fun! You know I like this so much because owning a real gen Rolex is like owning an expensive car where you really cannot afford the upkeep. On a franken - if the movement goes its $10 - $20 for a new 21J CN. This time the case is a 1980's 16000 with 14 K bezel from the bay. So it is newer then the last one and not quite as slim, but still - great lines. Somehow the reps are never this sleek... I put a new gen tube and seal in and used a gen 18K crown. I also put a new acrylic crystal on, the right one for this gen case, but aftermarket crystal. The case, bezel and crown have cost me quite a bit more then on my last project. Mainly the cost of the case, since it could house a 3035 mvmnt. So for now I am using a rep jubilee bracelet until a good deal on a 14 or 18K real one comes along. I got this real great aftermarket dial at the bay, from a guy in Singapore. It is made for a gen, so I had to move the feet. But I always wanted a dial with the concentric circle texture and Arabic Numerals. The iceblue one was my original target, but have not seen one. But I must say the dark blue looks better with gold. As a mvmnt I used a cheapy, but accurate CN 21J with a great DJ font on the date wheel. Without further adoo...Here it is
  22. He sold that CN case for $169.50 - unbelievable
  23. Well the point is if it says Rolex on it then its supposed to be genuine. Otherwise it is a fake. He can sell a case just like it with no markings and it is no problem.
  24. Take a look at this case: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=180213193092 on ebay. It clearly is not the right Rolex stamp in the case and when I asked the seller he told me its 'aftermarket'. Yeah - like an aftermarket Gucci bag? Some guy is going to buy this and make it into a 'real' submariner. How to stop this so short before closing
