  1. I don't know 'Handbrake' never even heard of it. We use 'Virtualdub' for adding SRT subtitles to AVI files (hardsub). Its is a free download: http://www.virtualdub.org/index To rip a DVD to AVI we use 'DVD-decrypter' first. (makes DVD into one huge VOB file that you can delete once everything is done - finished avi file...) And then 'Auto Gordian Knot' (AGK) to make that Decrypter VOB file into a smaller Avi file either with or without subs. AKG lets you choose which quality your output file will have, Divx or XVID and if subs or not, it is like a batch program for the Virtualdub I mentioned earlier and it works like a charm. All these programs come as free downloads and are easy to find by google. These programs or the websites they are on have some good tutorials also. Have fun!
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum - enjoy!
  3. Like I said: no jobby - no visa. Or you could come in through Mexico, I heard you get all kinds of breaks if you do that! No Visa fees, you don't have to get your fingerprints and picture taken for the big database and maybe even wellfare benefits...
  4. That is what I thought too... Even now after being here for 15 years I cannot make up my mind to trade my German citizenship for American, a lot of Germans I know here don't do it. Some are here a lot longer then me and still German. Somehow America always seems to be a little strange or unstable or something and we want to keep the options open I guess. Even Americans now are getting second passports I heard. But if the government for some reason decides that I should go back, then my marriage still would not protect me, even after all these years and all the taxes I have paid.
  5. I am originally from Germany and met my American wife - lets say a long time ago she was in the army at that time, so we lived in Germany together already for more then a year when we decided to get married. Since she had a daughter already from a former marriage it would have been an expensive legal nightmare to get married in Germany, so we flew to Vegas, got married and had the license transfered into German for 20 Marks at the time. Got a free vacation out of that for sure.. To come to the point: But when I applied for my visa to move to the States with her I was surprised to find out that even when you are married to a US citizen they do not have to give you a Visa. I had to find an employer in the states that wrote me a letter guaranteeing employment first. I also had to show I had enough money to start out with, don't remember exactly I think it was $10,000. It was quite a hassle and runaround.
  6. Not anymore - Bling is in for guys too! So far I like it more on rings and bracelets, but I might start thinking about a watch bezel now...
  7. Yes - only the loupe, that is the most noticable difference to the rep. On the gen it almost looks like a hole in the crystal to look through to the date.
  8. Is it not possible to buy the gen crystal with AR'ed loupe and install that?
  9. I agree - had to get them all.. Interesting project, keep me posted!
  10. Well I guess I am not buying from Andrew again - unless I hear clear evidence of this being some mistake....
  11. Wonderfull pictures Lani - should be in a Breitling ad! Kona makes me want to visit Hawaii again, one of the greatest places I have seen.
  12. I am going to do exactly that in the next few days - I will keep you informed how it goes.
  13. We just got a Philips upconvert DVD player with USB port for just $60 at Best Buy. Plays xvid divx, any country, pal ntsc - anything. We download a lot of avi files and just copy them to a large 8GB usb stick and plug it in. Saves a lot of disks.. ISO files you need to convert to dvd, nothing wil play them. You can use Nero or my favorite 'Sheep' program CloneDvd2 http://www.slysoft.com/en/purchase.html You need AnyDVD to remove copy protections and clonedvd to copy. Even removes country codes and lets you play other region DVD's on your computer etc. This program is amazingly well written and constantly upgraded to keep up with newer movies.
  14. I am aprehensive about the Omega Co-axial movement, its a cute idea but why? The watch does not get any more accurate from it and bump the watch one time too hard and it stops! and practically nobody besides Omega can make it work again... Besides not seeing your watch for about 6 months, after the warranty period that repair is going to cost serious money to fix. As for Omega I rather have the rep - maybe a Franken or the older pre Co-axial SMP. Other brands - give me all the gens I can afford. Just my opinion - it could be wrong, but I was warned by a pro.. Edit: To add to the other brands I have to clarify: All Rolex Sport models will never lose value and are the best bet for investment. Watches like IWC at the least and up to Jaeger le Coultre and all real high end ones will keep their value. Omega, Tags, Breitling, Chopard, Chanel, Gucci, Movado etc - all those lose 60% right when you buy them and they will not gain any value, so if that is important to you keep that in mind also.
  15. Thanks - that is good to know! I was always wondering why they went away from the regulator since it made the A7750 easy to spot, especially through glass bottoms. On the old 21.6k movements the regulator worked, so I would think this one will work also. BTW - you can also see on the escape wheel that this is a high beat movement, should have noticed that earlier.
  16. I just got an email from Angus about his better pictures on his website. It features a Royal Oak watch with an A7750 movement that is advertised as 28,8kbph. Now on the picture the movement has a timing regulator on the balance wheel like the 21,600bph movements have. I have so far not seen a 28,8kbph movement that has this regulator. Has this changed or is this a mistake in advertising? Here is the picture link: A7750 supposedly 28,8kbph
  17. Aschaffenburg urspruenglich - seit einigen Jahren in den US...
  18. On a more positive note: This is the first German watch forum I ever looked in, I guess I am too long in the US already. Some of the comments are really pretty funny Like one guy wrote: 'Easy to spot the rep - the 12 o'clock marker is really centered ' - like on the gen it isn't always. Another one about the remark that the rehaut engraving is not symetrical on the rep said that he was at an AD in Hamburg looking at this gen GMT and the rehaut was about 3mm off center. One guy several pages in wrote 'wouldn't it be funny if the guy now said: Oh it actually was the left one that is the rep!' Everybody had a laugh at that. Another one said ' he should not have told which one is the rep - I bet 30% would have guessed the wrong one.' I am not saying that it is right that he did that listing, I am all for flying under the radar so we can keep going. But some people really enjoyed that posting in Germany and will be more allert when they buy their next gen.
  19. You do not need to create any tension, just see that the jewel goes in between the pallet fork, mostly it is oriented that way already.
  20. Did you see the second one he is selling? That clasp is real and you can see the folded bracelet. Hong Kong was always flooded with luxury items and I am not surprised that NOS stuff is popping up there.
  21. I think so too - this looks real and it would be available if there were reps...
