  1. What has HE got that our TD's don't have..??......

I would be very surprised to find ANYTHING out there in that "jungle" we call the web, that you couldn't find from a TD for the same or less $$'s..

There are literally THOUSANDS of scammers out "there" who will take your money and run...

One of the main reasons we have sites like this one is to protect ourselves and our bros from them....

I've been around this scene for @ 7 yrs now, and I've yet to see one of these threads(and I've seen plenty of them!!)produce a new reliable source of quality product!!

  2. I like watches....A lot!!.....Owning reps allows me the pleasure of playing....YES, playing with a lot more of them for a lot less money....And if I break one, I don't even give a $hite..!

I'll just go and buy another one....and still be able to feed my family this month....

I used to use vintage Gen's to satisfy my urge, but sadly, these days, nobody besides Chaz Bono would get caught dead wearing a 32mm watch!! :pimp: :pimp:

  3. Nice discussion, LK.

Here's a question, for the sake of argument: Say I have a gen vintage watch and it's missing the pearl. So I find a nice aftermarket pearl, vintagize it, and glue it on.

Is my watch still a gen?

Now let's say my insert with the new pearl is really nasty. So I find a good PMWF insert, age it slightly, glue in that custom aftermarket pearl, and snap it on.

Is my watch still a gen?

Now, I'm tired of the boring caseback, so I go looking and shazzam, there's a gorgeous COMEX caseback for sale. I snatch it and put it on my watch.

Is my watch still a gen?

I'm sure you see where I'm going with this. At what point does it stop being gen and start being fake?

Is a '66 GT Mustang without the Hipo small block still a GT?

In the "real"(non rep) watch world, you'd have what's called a "frankenwatch"....And we know that "over there", that's not a "good thing" like it is here!!..

  4. I became seriously interested in reps when I discovered that it would cost $400.00+ to get an Omega watchsmith to clean and adjust my gen Dynamic Chrono...I still own the Dynamic, but I learned enough playing with reps to get it running well again!!.....

Meanwhile, I spent WAAAAY more than that $400., but I've had a lot of fun, and have a bunch of nice(to my standards!!)rep watches on the shelf... :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  5. It'll be interesting to see how this ends....Hopefully we were quick enough to get the guys $$'s back to them....

And it's indeed comforting to have good communications between the rep boards honchos...

Even though I seldom buy or sell any more, i still enjoy this hobby immensely, and I hate to see scammers pop up like that... :bicycle: :bicycle:
